Jews believe, above all else, that it's always a good idea to watch your back.

Check out a book titled "Letters to a Buddhist Jew: Exploring Judaism From a Zen Perspective" by David Gottlieb.

You can read the first chapter online at http://www.buddhistjew.com/

Why do you need to get "into" a religion anyways? Does it represent some sort of fashion statement to you or perhaps its a fad? Or are you the type of person that picks up a religion because your desire to confirm the existence of something greater than yourself is so overwhelming that you are willing to believe whatever delusions your are presented? If so, then Judaism probably isn't for you. To become a master jew takes years of study and practice. Besides their religious dogma, jews believe in global economics that benefits themselves as well as zionism. In my opinion, the jews that stand up against the unethical policies of israel are worthy of everyone's admiration and greatest respect because they are willing to defy what many of their fellow jews believe is divine destiny.

search on google for belief-o-matic, its alittle corny but pretty informative, breaks down the percentage of how your ideas realate to other major faiths. Might dig it?

Im being semi-serious and sarcastic.

Islam will never get my respect idea of blowing themselves up for 77 virgins Also the way they treat women is ridiculous. Plus they seem hellbent on destroying non-believers. Nutjobs

I dont care for the beliefs of christianity. Like the concept of original sin and that everyone is doomed unless they worship Christ. I think life is more than a test to get to heaven. Seems like majority of xtians are hypocrites anyway.

I know very little about judism. Ive that they dont believe in hell. Dont know if its true or not. One thing you gotta respect about Judism is that they dont push it on other people. THey dont have moral majority bs trying to legislate laws against human nature.

Besides, Im already circumcised and love bagels, Im half way there. Aint givin up my pork though.

Go further east than Islam, look into Buddhism, or Taoism.

Okay, Sufism then.

instead of trying to find a religion to fit your beliefs, ask what you believe. And be your answer.

Church and Temple are a good meeting ground for likeminded people. But praying means nothing if you don't do it when you leave the building...so to speak

Yeah the most important thing to to keep and open mind, and find out what you think . There may be no A to B path, sometimes you have to make your own.

well, i went to hebrew school, and had myself a bar mitzvah, which was a very exciting time for me in my life, to have my family bestow this great honor of becoming a man. And that is what judaism is about, you- the man, and your relationship with "God" or "Adonai"
There are many different variations of judaism, but the one i was raised in was reform, so it was the most liberal and open to today's culture, there are others, like the extreme orthodox, or the middle conservative, who prefer more immersion in the traditions of the religion.

The torah is the tome of the religion, broken up into 5 books there are stories of our peoples' history, and lessons and morals, that were passed down to us. Have you heard of the 10 commandments, well they are in the old testiment, after the hebrews had escaped from the egyptians, and traveled to Sinai where moses found the burning bush and the commandments handed down from "God"

IF you want to know my opion, i dont think that there are words to describe the true nature of this all powerful force...it is just that, a force, of nature, of the cosmos, of the universe. It is what unifies us as humans, and animals, and species, and beings, on this earth, but it is one mystery that no ammount of religion can truly solve. As they have been altered throughout the history of mankind. So what religion should you practice? The right one.

Become a jew, it will not solve any worldly problems, nor enlighten you to perfect harmony...no religion can do that you must do it for yourself and become in tune with the universe in a way that is as unique as it is unimposing.

just my 2cents

According to the belief-o-matic, I'm already a Reform Jew, I'm a 100% match. The Reform Jews can still eat pork and crab, right? Because I'm not giving crab cakes up for anyone, even Yahweh. I don't practice anything right now, but if I were going to, I think I'd go back to Catholicism. I like the ritualism, the idea of Purgatory seems a lot more sensible than a strict Heaven/Hell division, and now that I'm past puberty I don't have to be afraid of the priests.

Its not so much about spirituality, its about the common sense most jews seem to have. As much as theyre hated by so many, they piss me off the least. Theyre not out there trying to get government to legislate morality like the xtians and muslims.

indeed, the question of faith never comes in between me and a jew arguing as it would between me and a xtian or a person of any other kind of religion that I've argued about religion. it seems that much time is put into finding out the mysteries of this world that they don't even need to dig in to their faith to prove any points to me.

that's the dumbest part about religion. when people use faith to end conversation. i've rarely seen a jew use such a tactic to get out of an argument when we were discussing his religion. its quite remarkable. i have much respect for the jewish culture, even though the religion is still bonkers.
