I like John Rawls (A Theory of Justice is his comprehensive work), but I feel like I only like him because he tackles the problem of utilitarianism in the social contract, both of which are concepts that I think are so fucking interesting (John Stuart Mill and John Locke). I sure fucking hate Heidegger, though. For real, what a douchebag. I kind of enjoy his essence of being arguments, but you'd get the same from Aristotle (just in the Grecian way of thinking). If you like Heidegger, you ought to read Marcuse's (Eros and Civilization) which is a really interesting synthesis of Marx and Freud, but since he was Heidegger's student, he's got inherent ties to him. Particularly in the way of technology, there are some pretty essential themes that run straight through the both of them.

Do religious leaders count as philosophers? Technically I don't think they do. Yeah in a sense religion and philosophy are the same but still.
Diogenes the Cynic is cool.

That's the first time I've seen Abraham Lincoln and Adolf Hitler on the same list.

I think I went through a time warp. Jake Armstrong had a response that said Abe Lincoln wanted to deport the slaves to Africa and now it's not there.
do do do do do do do do There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone. da na na na

My truly favorite philosophers are the presocratics. Those people know a several answers that in now days are taking by the big thinkers. I love the tesis of Heraclito and Parmenides.
