Is God ok with us smoking marijuana?

Thoughts? I feel he made the plant for us, so, therefore he doesn't mind. I dunno. My aunt on the otherhand says I'm jumping right into the devils' little hot hands.

I see it like this.....

God wants us to lead a happy life, and by doing certain things some of us make our lives happier.

Just like I skateboard to be happy, I also use marijuana to feel better and be happy with no worries.

Fuck I really neeed to quit postin tonight, I doubt I'm makin sense in any of my posts ceuase I'm really high, and on a variety of pills.

He said we could use any plant except the forbidden fruit from that tree. That was in Eden though, so it's hard to say.

And the fear of you and the terror of you shall be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. (NASB) Genesis 9:2-4

some pastor told me this like 3 years ago

Jesus freaks are the reason i cant get a hooker in a widow or smoke a joint or open a casino on the corner. Maybe its time that superstition stopped ruling the world and people stopped trying to please some fairy tale man in the clouds.

marijuana, like the rest of creation, is a gift
but becuz you have free will you may abuse this gift from God, and easily fall into the devil's hand.
if you give yourself fully into God's hand, then you can do no wrong.
in this way the matter of health can be addressed: if we give ourself fully into God's hand, then we trust God completely, trusting even that ganja is good for us, as science is only now discovering : cannabinoids act against cancer cells and protects your brain against damage, even cause brain tumors to shrink. therefore trusting in God's goodness is wisdom that transcends the science of wicked and worldly men.

As long as you aren't treating your smoking like an addiction to crack and screwing up your life, and yes people do it, then I think God is fine with it. Why did he make sex so enjoyable? Why did he create so many different things for us to eat and make most of it so tasty? I think he has a reason for everything and whether we are using this plant the way he intended (which I think is medical reasons, but our government refuses to realize its vast amounts of medical use) he put it here for us and gave us free will to decide how to use it.

what about the fact that cannabis interferes with learning and memory? what about the potential neurotoxic effects on the hippocampus? what about the whole host of other health problems that could be caused or exaberated by marijuana? you can't only list the positive affects and pretend they mean marijuana is good for us.

The God that I know is not at war (with anyone or anything). The God that I know IS LOVE. The God that I know does not judge (that's Santa who has the naughty/ nice list). The God that I know gave us free will. It is all up to us... God loves us... we are suppose to 'be like Him' not 'be slave to Him'. The emodiment of God reminds of the potential we have, to love one another as brothers and sisters ... to see into the heart rather than with the eyes... to connect with one another on a spiritual level and to leave the judgement to the fanatics. If you want to know what God thinks, ask God 'He' wants you to be happy, healthy, and wise. The herb helps to remind us of our spiritual self if it is taken with thanks. THE LAW OF THE LAND is what makes it a sin.... not the law of God. Some believe that 'the devil' is in the hearts and deeds of men. Driven by FEAR and desire to rule (greed/ fear packaged together). Is there a little dude with a pitch-fork in a firey pit? I rather doubt it... just as I doubt there is a big guy with a long white beard and a naughty/ nice list sitting upon a cloud and judging us. We ARE HIS CHILDREN... HE does NOT send us to hell... we determine the course of EVERY life by our HONESTY, COMPASSION... by the purity of our hearts. So, all ya gotta do is to ask yourself if smoking weed makes your heart impure.... then ask yourself what makes your heart pure as the morning? WAKE and smile and move with intention and a smile.

From the Hua Hu Ching:
Quote:
Forty-Seven

Dualistic thinking is a sickness. Religion is a distortion. Materialism is cruel. Blind spirituality is unreal. Chanting is no more holy than listening to the murmur of a stream, counting prayer beads no more sacred than simply breathing, religious robes no more spiritual than work clothes. If you wish to attain oneness with the Tao, don't get caught up in spiritual superficialities. Instead, live a quiet and simple life, free of ideas and concepts. Find contentment in the practice of undiscriminating virtue, the only true power. Giving to others selflessly and anonymously, radiating light throughout the world and illuminating your own darknesses, your virtue becomes a sanctuary for yourself and all beings. This is what is meant by embodying the Tao.
If you think about "what God wants" you clearly don't understand the concept of God since you don't understand the concept of transcendence. God can not be known.
Being a good person is what all ethics are about. All other stuff is just someones opinion wich got attached allong the way.

haven't heard God described a better way

also sparky28 - i never knew about that passage

here it is again copied from www.blueletterbible.org
genesis 9:2-4:
Quote:
And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth [upon] the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
thanks so much for bringing that up, never would've know it - though it may mean..who knows what... i will from now on bring it up anytime talk of grass overlaps talk of god - many thanks

God is okay with anything we do. If He wasn't, we wouldn't be able to do it, and by making us unable to do it He would be limiting Himself. Every experience is open to you, that's the beauty of God's boundless Love.

I agree.^

What kind of a "God" would we have if he was a judgemental "God".

Human's are judgemental, not "God".

If you wish to call those statements subjective, that's up to you. I'm not preaching to anybody, since I don't give a shit about what other people believe.
