The Muslim Jesus
I think this is a very well done, 40 minute documentary about the Muslim perspective of Jesus, including their beliefs about who is is/was and the differences between the stories. It presents the various aspects of the Muslim position and allows for Christian rebuttel to these positions. Also includes religious historians etc.
The Muslim Jesus- on Surf the channel And btw, SurfTheChannel - Home is a great site for streaming movies and television. What do you guys think about this documentary and the Muslim beliefs about Jesus as compared to the Christian beliefs?

very interesting
i think its interesting that the bible has a record about what Jesus taught, and the koran has a record of what was said about Jesus. no matter what we may or may not believe about him, it is more important to follow what He taught Last edited by Canuck Wisdom; 07-16-2008 at 09:13 AM. |

Alright if there's anyone who wants to talk about, I'm here one of the very few on Yahooka who can talk about Islam first hand.
I have a Muslim background but I'm throughout an atheist. Nevertheless I know a lot about Islam and have read more then I have learned from my grandma when I was a kid. She was a true believer and a devoted Muslim. I loved her and I will always keep her in my memories as the calmest, friendliest and the most benign person I've ever met. She didn't have much education, I think she only had 4 years of prime school and she married my grandpa when she was 16, it must've been somewhere between 1905 and 1910, definitely before the WWI, but she was really savvy and always had the right advise for every problem, for everybody in the family, she was amazing... She did her praying rituals 5 times a day, every day. She sacrificed a lamb every year for Kurban (Eid al-Adha), she fasted every Ramadan, she was a perfect picture-book Muslim, and she was the happiest women I've ever met. Her life made it clear to me that if you truly devote yourself to Allah and follow the teachings of the Qur'an, you cannot be a bad person and you cannot have enemies in your life. Well at least not for a reason. She died in 1985 when we think she was 93 (she never knew her birthday herself exactly). What we're experiencing today is an exploitation and abuse of a religion which in it's root and pure form is a religion of peace and love. There are forces in place in the world that are trying to misuse a whole religion in order to pursue an agenda. On one side there are perfect breeding grounds created by America and its allies, for fanatics to preach and teach a false image of Islam, and recruit hopeless kids for their militant agenda, kids who've lost their loved ones, their homes, their homelands, while there is the opposite side doing everything to fan the flames. Because it is one and the same agenda they all pursue. |

as "people of the book"(monothiests), jews and christians are tolerated among muslims.
however, that doesn't apply to hindus or buddhists, as ancient, and current history can attest.. i'm speaking about governments and empires, not individuals http://www.usatoday.com/news/science...an-buddhas.htm

That's funny I just had this news story open in another window.
Muslim creationist preaches Islam and awaits Christ | Reuters Near the end: "Oktar said Koran verses and sayings of the Prophet Mohammed about the end of the world revealed Jesus would return soon as a Muslim to help Islam's savior, the Mahdi, defeat the Dajjal or Islamic Anti-Christ and establish Islam around the world." |

So who here has read the Qu'ran? Just curious, I'm a convert to Islam, at first it was to marry my wife, after I read the Qu'ran the world and all it's madness finally made sense to me. I believe in it 100% and would love to discuss it with some of my Yahookans, especially sage, verk and spanky. I respect y'alls opinions a great deal. You have to read it with an open heart first though!

Yes and Yes
I have read the Qu'ran, with an open heart. For a time there was a day when I would read it constantly. When did you convert? Blessings, SageTree

Every believing Muslim learns pretty fast, that just the fact that you do believe and are led to the right way is by the grace of God alone. I think that as a convert, looking back, it's an amazing set of trials that I had to go through to Finally arrive at becoming Muslim. I'll try to lay it out, hopefully y'all will see it as beautifully as I do.
As a youth, if you'd have asked me my faith I'd definitely answered Christian. I believed in God, and that Jesus(PBUH) was his prophet. I went to church a few times growing up, but never felt comfortable there, Even in at a young age. I never could comprehend the trinity, or the fact that in church, where you're supposed to learn about God, God was very seldom mentioned...only Jesus(PBUH) Plus all the hymns etc...I just found it all silly. So I figured I'd find out about God myself. Plus if you're Christian, you really don't worry too much about religion since Jesus(PBUH) already died for your sins. Oddly enough, I would only pray to God himself. So I go about my teens and early twenties whichever way the world took me, I've never had a goal of any value, and have always been open to everything which has led me on a pretty crazy path. So crazy in fact, that one night I prayed to God to get me out of this crazy life. He answered the next week with a job offer in Colorado. A fresh start where all my influences could be chosen. I had my fill of drama, drugs, and alcohol here in Texas. My Mother and I were also victims of an alcoholic abusive Husband/Father. So at the age of 23 I finlally found peace. I didn't socialize for two years, I had absolutely no scene. I would go to work, get off and either just drive around, hike, or read. I didn't make any friends for a year and a half, I had some opportunities, I just didn't want the responsibilities. I just wanted it to be me, finding me. The last six months I was there, I met a man I'll never forget, a Palestinian man in his forties named Waheel. He owned a convenience store, and every morning I'd go in there to get some coffee and chat. He was so interesting. We'd be sitting there talking in English, He'd get a phone call and start speaking arabic, and then a hispanic customer would come by, and he'd instantly switch to fluent spanish. He was great. He'd tell me stories about Palestine, and how when the call to prayer would come (they sing it over loud speakers and such in Muslim countries) people would leave their doors open and stores unattended, because there was no fear of theft and such. I asked him why he'd leave such a place, and his answer was fear of Israel, and the violence it was bringing. He also told me the Palestinian side of that conflict that you never hear, and basically introduced me to Islam. Changed my whole outlook on media, religion, and pretty much the world, because I found out the most important thing of my life, there's always another side, one you might not hear about because people with certain agendas keep it from you. So with that knowledge I gained from there, I felt I'd accomplished my Colorado journey,, and moved back to Houston. I hooked up with a mutual friend of a friend, who just so happened to be a "Muslim" Indian gal. Within a few months of us meeting she got pregnant, I had to fast track it to become "Muslim" and within a year of me moving back from Colorado and hooking up with her, I had a wife, a kid, a house, a new job, and a new religion that we didn't follow. I just new the basics and considered myself muslimLOL. Well, fast forward four years and another child later. After hearing some music that got me interested in Islam again, I actually did what I should have done in the first place, read the Qu'ran. It hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks. It answered every question that I've ever had about this world. It's the most logical, sensible way of life, that if only everyone believed would be the perfect Utopia. It's got so many scientific properties, literary properties, I really don't see how anyone can deny it's the unmolested word of God Last edited by I10HaulR; 07-05-2009 at 01:41 AM. |
