The power of eyes
Is anyone else fascinated with eyeballs?
They are like one of the most precious attributes of a living thing; so delicate. And the gift of sight accounts for so much of what our lives mean. And sometimes I wonder if I (or people) take *seeing* for granted. After all, that is how you're reading my words. Not only the miracle of sight but also the expressions we give and understand with our eyes. We can see empathy, love, boredom and hate in other peoples eyes. They're our own lie detectors. Windows to our souls. It's no wonder that (I dunno) 70% of songs refer to eyes in the lyrics. And lastly, we know how useful our eyes are but we they aren't all knowing. Our eyes don't see everything. Eagles can see a small animal on the ground when it is in full flight. That's amazing and it lets us know that maybe there is more to this universe than meets the eye. Maybe there are colors and lights and movements that our eyes can't comprehend. That's just a thought. But all in all, eyes are wonderful, aren't they? |

Eyes are the gateway to ones soul.
Some people should wear dark glasses for their eyes speak.

I would have to agree with you interest in the eye ball. How can something that is so thin on the face of the eye, still be so deep when you look into it. It's like seeing into someones central nervous centre or something. I am amazed at how real and touchable eyes make things appear, but alas its just a snap snap snap image in my eye and not my eye accually reaching out and touching the thing that I see. Last January I had RPK laser eye correction, now my vision is 20-20. However since I was in 1st grade I have had to wear glasses because I couldn't see 6 inches past my nose, maybe less. So for me when I got that done I sat up and immediatly knew that my life would never be like it was, because for me it was like being able to walk again, it truely felt like a miricle had happened. I am so thankful everyday that I can now just wake up and use my eyes. And it has furthered my interesting and wonderment at the eyes, but also realizing what they did was sculpt my lens. Something simple and physical. Has this changed my outlook on life? Perhaps, many positive changes and insights has occured since that time. I can say its JUST the eyes, but in some ways maybe it helped me feel free. Lastly I would like to agree with your thought Merc. I my mind there are alot of things that people are percieving to be real and accurate. Science states that there is only truth in measurable outcomes, and that sciences goal is to find more ways to measure mysteries. This said I would like to use an Einstein quote where he states "That a problem can't be solved in the consciousness it was conceived" From a simple view, that to me means that science who has alot of reasons for its searching, ranging from Atheist to Spiritual. My question is are we using all our senses to perceive answers. Are there variables that we can't even fathom? Variable so important that we haven't even scratched the surface of REAL answers? This heavily influences my interest in Earth Based spiritualality and medicine, as well as an admireation of how the Hindu path has so much logic as to solve many problems, create ideas and explain things. These things as well as many Earth Based practices have been true for eons and eons, but now science has begun to show that these methods are indeed correct based on their understanding, and they can often explain why they work. What they can't touch on is HOW THESE PEOEPLE KNEW SO LONG AGO, and with out "accurate" measuring devices. I surly believe there are things we don't know about our humaness yet, eyes included. We are all capable to love all and harm none, and we haven't all realized or experianced that yet, so why not more mysteries that our unrealized consciouness hasn't began to ponder in the modern sense of science. What if science and religion weren't always viewed as polar opposites, and science at large began meditation as the first step to the scientific process? In Love Sage

As far as I know many scientists practice meditation, at least I've read about it and discussed it on a personal level. I haven't ever seen figures or studies so this is all just anecdotal.
The eye is ridiculous. I have some powerful eyes. |

Alot of Scientist, what a vauge word, I know are creationists, because they say there are just too many amazing things for all this to evolve. I feel Darwin's ideas are largly misunderstood and what is missed is that Darwin was a Christian mearly trying to describe ,through scientific observation, how he felt God had created the Earth, which was via evolution. Alot of people seem to think he is the godfather of atheism.
I'm glad that you have ment alot of scientist who are on the meditation path as well. What I mean by vauge is that are we all just alittle bit scientist/artist in life? Thanks for sharing

Eyes have always amazed me. Looking at them through the side... I can't describe how cool it is to see the clear blob. I am having a hard time wording this. Eyes are cool. haha!
If I ever lost my eyesight, I'd go crazy.

I trip out when I realize that eyes are part of the brain, and are exposed to the outside world.
I also like eyes because if you don't like someone, you can rip them out and fuck the hole. Skullfucking, FTW!! ![]() The Rev |
