why is it that the roman catholic church is seen as the "pure" or standard christian organization, when the romans were the ones who crucified jesus? maybe i dont know my history, but thats probably the most contradictory and hypocritical thing possible. turning a man you killed for being a "false idol" into your messiah and savior? like, im pretty sure thats not how he wanted it to go down after he died. it reminds me of the United States, killing and enslaving africans for years, and then worshipping one as some sort of messiah/leader.

You wrong duke

Catholics just front like that while the Eastern Orthodox is closer to the truth of that

But the real truth is that theres tons of sects of christianity that never made it to modern history

i was raised catholic, and completely rejected it by 9 years old.
i can assure that nobody follows the strict regime, especially the most militant of them (your local clergy, the kennedys, mobsters, my dad, bill o'reilly, possibly saints).

this is entirely surprising news; i never thought they'd progress that far although it sure took the church long enough.

The oldest form of Christianity extant is Ethiopian. And yes Greek Orthodoxy and some other churches predate the Catholic church.

Yes and no.

In many ways Catholicism resembles a pyramid marketing scheme (as do many churches) and the anti contraception thing is obviously a gambit to take over the world.

On the other hand Catholic organizations have been responsible for bringing to light atrocities in East Timor and other places that no one else gives a toss about. And many individual Catholics are genuinely charitable, spiritual people.

It`s like saying America = teh evil.

Edit- and on topic, Darwin was a Christian I believe.

Double edit- I`ve just checked, he became agnostic in later life.
