Catholics are the original Christians. The other sects, such as Lutheran, Baptist, etc. all came after the Protestant Reformation, set in motion by the belief that one's relationship with God should be direct, rather than through the Church of Rome.

edit- Also, according to Pope Benedict, only Catholics are real Christians, because their belief that they were the original church founded by St. Peter and therefore everyone else is not recognized by the church..

but really that's been their policy ever since the days of Luther and Calvin..only difference is that Benedict is more vocal about it.

meh IMO you can still have faith and believe in whatever you want and still accept reasonable facts. but anyone who takes the bible literally is just stupid, and this is all going back to that chapter where god said he created the earth. i guess they fear that once that is disproved science is going to prove that miracles and omnipotent beings dont exist.
