brainwashed

You know, I think some people I work with have been totally brainwashed. When I'm patrolling the streets of Baghdad, I look around and I see people. Women, children, and average people who were unfortunatley born in this shithole. When I see the kids I see them as kids, just like the ones in America.

I'm always being criticized by my peers. They see everyone here as the enemy. "fuck the kids"... They look at them as subhuman creatures. I can't do it. They are just people to me. Everyone suspects that i'd hesitate on the trigger. A lot of these guys have some sort of blood lust... i don't get it. I don't have the desire to kill, But I have an amazing desire to stay alive. I'll do what I have to to retain my morals and survive. Sometimes I think war and morality are mutually exclusive

Europe made me soft. It took away my edge. I found a loophole and thus I was never really working for a whole year just living in europe on a government paycheck...Now I'm back to this army shit and I'm nothing like any of these people... I have a couple close friends but other than that i'm a social pariah. People think I'm soft. Just because I don't have a desire to riddle some 15 year old with bullets, doesn't mean I can't fight. Perhaps that bloodlust is a good mentality for war.

Sometimes I think i'm going to go out like that one guy who was greased by that sniper handing candy out to the kids.

Well... it's understandabley tough to remain 'human' while being a part of a war. It's gotta be a psychological mind-fuck.

IMO good on you for thinking the way you do.

GL and all that.

Bloodlust is good for mindless drones, take solace in the fact that, unlike your army bretheren around you, that you are still human, and won't be there forever.

I'm glad that you are in the mindset you have just found. Keep your values and keep 'loving' the people the military was sent to 'help'.

only for those who wish to come home upright.

Iraq and Afghanistan do not want American troops on their soil.
So realize where you are, and why you are really there, and act accordingly.
Shit will be history before you grasp the moment.

ya, seems like the majority of military men (mainly infantry) are brainwashed, it's pretty sad. I met these guys that were actually excited about their upcoming deployment to Iraq.. I asked why, and they said they were "hella suicidal" and just wanted to kill some Iraqis.. Just their ways of thinking are so obscured and twisted, It's like they completely lose all emotions, or never had any to begin with.. They view the so called "enemy" as animals, and less human than themselves. How the fuck can any emotionally stable person be excited about going to war and killing people?

brainwashed? in the military?

noooo

What you need to do is get that feeling of adrenaline when your engaging the enemy. Do you guys even fight anymore or is it just a couple renegade insurgents and suicide bombers? And remember to accept the fact that you're already dead.

Most combat arms MOS's take the slightly retarded and under developed. Mainly MP's..... I bet most of these people with the "bloodlust" have been to Iraq before.. I guarantee no first timer has it.
As much as people think they are ready for that environment... they aren't. They find it out once they are walking down a city block in an area with buildings more than two stories high. I've been there.. done it with an airborne unit none the less... I thought it would be a rush.. and it is.. just in a wave of shock and awe and what the fuck

dex im not saying you are dumb, but most people in the military are dumb as shit. anyone who looks at another human and see's them as "the enemy" is a fucking idiot and thats the basic reason why there will never be an end to this stupid bullshit in the middle east

Good for you Dex. There's no need to loose your innocence (w/ regard to killing), even if it would make you harder.
