The Truthsayer Drug

I have always found that marijuana is a great drug for making things obvious and revealing what the usual noise of the conscious mind makes it hard to see. The thing is, lately, every time I smoke weed, I keep finding myself thinking that I should quit, and that this property of the drug is no longer useful to me. I realize that it's just an entertaining habit, for the most part, and while I still get the same effect, I realize that this is something I can do without weed, now.

Thoughts.

Yes Rev I hear you. I was actually meaning to ask you if we could talk or you would send me a pm about you year of not drinking. How you got to that point? How did you deal with being in bars with people and not feeling like people seemed guiltier for you not drinking?

I accidentally hit the back space key and lost a really long post. Lucky for you But I can relate to what you are saying here. I feel like I've had alot of insight into my True Self via the Selfless effect herb Lit up inside me. I saw that this was in there and that I could follow it with action. This is basically my practice, acting on insights I have and honouring with action. Herb has been a good friend in this regaurd.
However I do feel like I had a change of mindset on this awhile ago and have been smoking so much less. I realized this mostly when I realized that I was packing a bowl and so into the book, that was really bringing much to my sight, I would forget to smoke....forget..... I thought.
Some nights while doing my assanas I get such a relived feeling that I wouldn't even dare compare smoking to it. and I think, if just doing this can make me feel so well....just questioning it alot I'd say.
I feel the more engaged I find myself in my practice the less I feel like doing these things. I've recongized that too much coffee makes me feel bad, alcohol isn't a social thing for me, I feel sorta hazed on it, and would rather have a glass with the wife at home once in a while. This is the thing I'd like to know more about from you, the change, and now I'm smoking less, while I don't feel it detracts from my practice, however I don't know that it adds anymore either. And I certainly don't smoke around times of Sittings ect....

Thanks for bringing this up man. I feel ya. And know we are on atleast the same chapter of the same book, dare I say within a page or two or more. So I know you understand that I understand. And seriously I'd like your opinion Oh Respected Friend.

In loving kindness,
Sage

If it's something you genuinely feel you can do without than I would encourage you to do so. Long term commitments arent necessary, sometimes a simple realization is far more profound..like what you entailed.

But are those properties entirely useless indefinitely? I personally like to think that it is dependent on what one is exposed to and what their usual experiences are like. If you're continuously exposed to the same experiences over and over, then more than likely such characteristics can loose their significance. I like to think that there is always a good time where appreciation of details can be utilized. Ie: less common experiences, ones that we are less familiar or intimate with. This is why weed for me personally has always been a matter of balance. I only really smoke when I feel it can be utilized.

I mean knowing what it does for you is probably the best tool you can have on this issue. It on it's own I think will lead you in the direction best suited for yourself.

Much love

yeah, I am about in the same place that you are describing.
for me it's a battle with the 'piggy' in me. Just can't stop that old pig troughing it up in hashland. But hashland is such a lovely state to live in and so hard to leave.

I reckon I might just 'give it up' one of these days, or at least make a serious attempt.

down piggy, down!!!!!!!!

Just that I am aware of how MJ affects me, and to exactly what degree, in what circumstances. Whether it be mentally, spiritually, physically, socially etc. It can affect me more desirably or less desirably, depending on the situation. So I try to not smoke when I feel it will not benefit me. I enjoy using marijuana as tool, that aids in my appreciation for experience or furthering experience itself.

The Rev
is that mass beliefs that state that getting high is BAD talking or is that rev's actual personal preferences talking?

the herb can be anything you want it to be. it's all about willpower and self-control.

if your using herb to "expand your awareness" and you might think that its actually limiting you and narrowing your awareness in some ways, its your decision to make. if you want to use it just as a fun thing to do, a stress reliever, thats fine too. its your prerogative as a decision making, free-will having human being.

it's a lot different for people that have been smoking constantly for 20 years+.
you get to a point that is permenent. The weed has changed you, and it isn't actually providing you with anything usefull anymore.

It still feels good, but you realise that is no longer needed.

Rev,

I'm about you age, and I feel about the same as you.

I seldom use cannabis. Maybe two or three times a month on average. These are the reasons I still use it:

1. Enhances the intimacy of our marriage bed.
2. It puts me to sleep soundly and eases stress.
3. Relieves occasional severe back pain.
4. Makes me reflective so I see the truth in my life (to the point where sometimes it causes me to question my cannabis use).
5. Puts me in touch with my own creativity, and thus makes me much more effective at my job.

All this from smoking two times a month.

Smoking much more than this I’ve found diminishes many of these positive effects, or even causes them to disappear.

Moderation is the key.

use it dont abuse it! some people use it as a sacrement, to purify there soul and see the truth in all situations. some people use it instead of alcohole, some peple use it for medicine.. and some people get addicted to it.. just like any substance, but with marijuana its in your head. unlike cigs and alcohol that is you get addicted you physiclly have a need for it in your body even tho its hurting your body, you trick you body into thinking it needs a certin substance to function. which is self induced slavery.

I thought I was the only one that felt like that. Good to see I'm not.

When I'm sober I'll be like fuck it it can wait then I'll get stoned and then I'm like , "you dumbass you need to take care of that NOW."
