How dare you trivialize my cynicism You starry-eyed "optimists" make me sick. Empty-headed is what you really are. Bliss is the state of being completely useless, inherently neglectful of the toil upon which it rests. This "thing" that exists, whatever it is, this something-instead-of-nothing... it is as horrific as it is beautiful. You are the crest of a wave pretending that the trough does not exist!

Yes I am terrified, probably to an excessive degree, but I would argue that some fear is vital to inspire us toward fully experiencing our situation, and to inspire us to defend it so that our posterity can experience the awe and terror in turn. Maybe we scardeycats are here specifically to be scared, to bask in the intensity that fear lends to existence!

and i would argue that you can only determine what is vital to yourself. fear can be a powerful impetus, but what the experience really boils down to is a negative relationship with uncertainty. fear isn't some noble recognition of less welcome potentials, it's recognition plus dread. imo at least.

Bliss is a belief that the universe is conspiring to support you.

Fear is a belief that the universe is conspiring to harm you.

There's only one way to find out which is true, and that is to let go of resistance.

I say, grow a pair and let go into the trough. You might find it's not a steep a fall as you might have thought.

if we truly experienced "Being" in its true state then we'll find bliss is our natural state.

the bad part about this is there's so much left to discover on our own planet and were already looking for somewhere else to go

that's not true at all.

watch every episode of planet earth and if you can still find a land formation that wasn't shown in planet earth, I will pay you lots of money.

I think we already understand the basics of our planets physics/resources. If we can expand in space at all before using up all of our resources I will be hella surprised. You can't recycle everything.

ahh my point exactly!

we've seen pretty much everything there is to see on land (though we are still discovering new species of plants and animals), but the depths of the ocean are much less than half-way discovered, ocean covers the majority of our planet but we still know so little about it

im not saying that we shouldnt be looking to the stars, but theres still quite a bit of work to be done here.
