Giving birth could also symbolize giving life to ideas, creating something new.

Could also be a fear of giving birth and perhaps (not necessarily but it may be) that your boyfriend walking in and out but not talking to you could be symbolic also of fears or of emotions regarding being emotionally abandoned.

It just dawned on me that this one is probably mostly a reaction to a show a saw a few nights back where a woman was malled by a large cat. In this dream, the cat was in our yard and came after my son. I got the cats attention and he was after me and ripping skin from my shoulder and head. I yelled at my kids to go in and continued to try to fight the cat. I can't believe it never dawned on me that I had watched that show... darn, I thought it was all about self-sacrifice.
