Association as a...
between body and mind as a quick way to achieve a desired state of existence.. is fucking interesting!
Here is an example that I have been working on.. maybe you could try for yourself too.. Whenever I am feeling in a really relaxed state of mind I press my thumb with my finger and hold it for a few minutes... The basic idea behind it is frequency. The more I do this.. the stronger the association between pressing the thumb and teh feeling of relaxation. So when I am stressed for whatever reason.. I can just press my thumb and feel it flow. Pavlov's dogs mayn. This same technique could be used to make an infinite number of associations. I could even use my right hand for one and the left for another.. M

I use that too. My hypnotherapist used it with me and I have carried it over. Pressing my finger and thumb brings me mentally to a relaxing setting (sitting around our fire pit). I tried using it prior to going into an intimidating class for the first time. Helped to slow my heart rate. We talked about 'body memories' in hypnotherapy and used the body/ mind connection a lot. I'm going to be certified in August. I really appreciated this approach to therapy.

I remember reading somewhere that if you make a habit to use your opposite hand, that you can "unlock" other parts in your brain. Like if you are right handed, to start using your computer mouse with your left, or open doors, use a fork etc.
