The Devil is one of the many victims in an age old human drama. The externalization, characterization, and overall anthropomorphization of abstract, general concepts and experiences has always been a highly utilized tool in the process of relation between the human mind and it's environment.
The Devil, or more specifically what it represents (evil), has no more tangible and physical a manifestation as kindness or sorrow. The catalyst that accelerates these experiences into our physical experience is the human observer. I see these particular types of symbolic framework (that is the fatherly "God", the Devil, Horus, Shiva, etc) as imprints on the collective consciousness left by our rather archaic, or ancient, understanding of self. In today's conscious context, I feel there are many more means and forms of symbolic representation that can more accurately relate to the human mind the experiences that were once held by concepts such as Heaven, Hell, the Void, God, the Devil, etc. I feel however that if one holds these archaic representations in mind, fully recognizing and appreciating their poetic nature, that they can be used as powerful tools of relation, to accelerate many desirable experiences into the human mind. My most used one as of late has been the warrior concept for instance. One I feel that is sorely needed in the minds of the collective, content populace. Smoke on that for a while.

So is the idea of a man-like figure torturing souls which have no bodies. I mean come on. It's just like how the term Dharma turned into Karma and people try to "wish bad karma" on people. Which is not even possible because that isn't what dharma/karma is.
Everyone just wants someone to burn out of jealousy. The belief that their is a devil means you have a devil inside of you. For you wish for another to eternally suffer. There's no right or wrong. That statement in itself is a paradox to itself, but the most true thing I've found. People just need guidance, and the fact that some dude thousands of years ago said the holy spirit filled his mighty soul with holy words(which have been changed many times), is good enough reason to believe there is a devil. Then enjoy what makes you feel better about the fact that there's no directions or rules in life. |
