The end of the human race

I am a strong believer that we are in the correct time period where human beings get wiped off the planet, or we are on the brink of a mass extinction.

theres so many things that are fucked up in this world... polution, war, drugs, money, economy, diseases... theres no hope left for us as we all evolved so fast and intelligently and there is so many of us taking the earths resources and throwing the waste everywhere and just killing the planet.

all this beef with other countries and having world wars and dropping nukes on japan... all this shit is just pissing alot of people off and no matter where you are in the world there is corruptance, poverty, fighting, killing, stealing you name it.

my prediction is either we are going to have some missles flying back and forth and survivors of the earth will left to fend for food, water, there lifes... or another thing i could see happening is a natural disastor or something on 2012 that would change the human civilization forever.

anybody have any thoughts on the extinction of mankind? when is it gonna happen? will we see it? will our kids see it?

R1bal, you must realize disease, money, drugs, war, and pollution are timeless. They're inventions of man-kind but there are other inventions of man kind that need your attention.

We can grow organs now in petri dishes for transplants from skin cells, 200 years ago we could die from the flu, people are living past 70, there will soon be commercial flights to outer-space for tourism, we can treat psychological issues verses calling them witch-craft and burning people at the fucking stake(I'd be dead).

This is not the end my friend, this is just a chip in man-kinds existence, and you're starring at the glass half empty.

People almost want the world to just end I find. So that way their free from decisions, expectations, their inhabitions and habits. But can I say to you, that there is much time left, and if there wasn't, why bother thinking about it? Shouldn't you be out living life verses fearing and loathing your demise? Everyone's gonna die. Yes you will die one day, shit it could even be tonight. But what direction are these thoughts taking you too? Away from where you need to be to do your duty on this earth, what's that you ask? Your already doing it.

I feel like your looking for comradery in your insecurity on the well-being of the human race. Like you just want people to tell you "2012 bro it's over" or something. I don't mean that as some kind of insult I'm just being over analytical of your post because I'm real stoned.

2012,swine-flu, bird-flu, Y2K, the black plague, we're still hear mate.

"If your scared to die, you'd better not be scared to live", Mark Oliver Everett from the band the Eels.

Don't let them scare you away from creating the master-piece that is you.

Pretty much the same as it's always been then? Also, learn to use paragraphs.

More and more I am coming to realize that Eugenics is a good idea...Provided it would be based on the aptitude of the parents, not something as mundane as skin color, appearance, etc...

Ribal I'm sorry to hear you have a bleak view of what may happen to us. These are pretty heavy times we live in, but this has been the cycle to many many years and things can be pretty scarey and sad to see happen.

My advice. Look for those small acts of kindness each day and try not to be bummed. You can help create small goodnesses weather we are here for 5 more or 555 more.

dying is easy, living is hard.

being negative is easy, being positive is hard

doing the wrong thing is easy, doing the right thing is hard.

it's always been like this, it will always be like this. there will always be bad shit in the world, and its easy to get sucked down with it. takes more to remain and do good than bad. that being said, it's not the end of the world. 2012 is just a year. we wont necessarily ever be extinct, barring some unforeseen event like an asteroid, or plague that wipes out all of humaity, and even then, it's highly doubtful (extinction). doesnt mean that we cant have mass amounts of the population dying, but total annihilation is not going to happen, imo.

The world isn't as fucked up as the media would have you believe. Just remember, it's not on TV because it reflects the truth, it's there because it grabs your attention sufficiently that you'll sit through the commercials.

I knew that was coming...But the sad fact is that not everyone is equipped to bring a life into this world yet the most unequipped are usually the ones spawning like rabbits..Without selective breeding we are doomed to end up like the film idiocracy..I also did not imply that we need to sacrifice anyone to the greater cause, just educate...

I don't hope for an end to the world. I hope for an end to the world as we know it, because (to me) its starting to feel stagnant and repetitive...not my life, but the collective consciousness of our species.

Perhaps it's a symptom of being (in this world, at least) a liberal, but the fuckers who continue to prevent social and cultural progress in the name of imaginary (and personal) Gods and beliefs are extrememely frustrating. And the continuation of the same "fights" that have been going on for millenia, to me, seems liek a waste of time and energy.

I do not understand why "they" are here anymore or necessary for our collective consciousness (to have an opposing force to peace, love, and understanding), as we have developed the technology to record human events. I understand the need for darkness to appreciate light. But with the ability to see darkness in the virtual world, the necessity for it in the "real" world seems out of date. In metaphor form, it seems to me that our collective consciousness has the ability to get into a fully electric car...but we seem to keep driving our Hummers...

I don't think 2012 is some sort of earth-cracking day of complete annihilation...to me (factoring in the coincidental nature of the word maya meaning illusion), it seems more like an end to a way of thinking...ushered in by a new paradigm and vision of ourselves and the universe.

Or it could just be another notch in our imaginary calendars...but one can hope...

Thanks verk.

I wish the people that think we're going to all die off would just hasten their own demise so the rest of the world could get on with getting better. They're pessimism slightly holds back the visionary culture that's emerging.

This is a fantastic article regarding war, torture, slavery and the evolution of mankind beyond it:

http://pinker.wjh.harvard.edu/articl...20Republic.pdf

That the decline of violence is a fractal phenomenon may be supported by the 2005 Human Security Report.

Quote:
…the number of armed conflicts has declined by more than 40 percent since 1992… Over the past dozen years, the global security climate has changed in dramatic, positive, but largely unheralded ways. Civil wars, genocides and international crises have all declined sharply. International wars, now only a small minority of all conflicts, have been in steady decline for a much longer period, as have military coups and the average number of people killed per conflict per year. — Human Security Report, 2005
When Ghandi said "Be the change you want to see", he meant every single person. It's the secret to creating the peaceful planet we hope for. But if you're just going to sit on the sidelines and fear our demise, then hurry up and get off the planet so the rest of the people with some hair on their nuts can carry the torch forward.

Furthermore, the human body is just a small sliver of your existence. Even once this body and all others expire, it's far from the end of anything. If it's not Earth, it will be another area of the universe/existence you will reside in. Continuous life, on and on. So get with it now, you're going to have to at some point.

Everyone's made some good points, but on the other hand....

what if some one wanted to make a biological war. I mean, what if some one did make a virus deadlier than ebola? that would surely end it all.

It's been possible for years and years and years. Total nuclear war was possible for the past 50 years. There's a reason it hasn't happened yet and to think our generation is somehow going to be responsible for that is arrogant, at best.
