what about the fact that there's methane on mars? methane is by-product for organic organsims meaning there had to have been life on mars at one point or another. I don't care if it was single cell organisms, I'm confident that LIFE is programmed into physics, it just takes the perfect environment for it to be created. if it was a one a billion chances, there would still be millions of other galaxies out there with some form of life in it. there's just too many galaxies and planets for it not to be possible. I don't even think we know where the edge of the universe is.. if there is one?

water is essential for life because an aqueous environment is necesary for chemical reactions to occur in a timely manner. so both of you are right. and there is water on mars last i heard
