i disagree or perhaps i dont understand what you are trying to say. "race" is an observable genetic phenotype...

we have a pretty good understanding from evolution and genetics why different ethnicities exists and how the passing on of genetic traits works...

It all depends on whether you want to look at race from a scientific perspective or a social one. In the context of the original post of this thread (why do races exist) I think science is the correct way to go about answering the question.

I think racist emotional reactions are pretty normal. People, by nature, get their guard up around people, and in situations, which are different from what they're used to. If we're honest with ourselves, and learn not to simply react to these emotions with actions or words, they present an excellent opportunity to learn about ourselves.
