Do YOU believe in life after death?
Do you believe in Life after Death?
I was thinking today about religion and stuff, and if certain religions are true... Dont you think the after life would probably be better than life here on earth? Dont get me wrong life here isnt that bad, but theres a lot of fucked up stuff in the world today. Plus you could see all of your relatives/friends that have passed on. So then that got me thinking, maybe people just made up hell so that people would not end their lives here on earth just to get to the after life quicker. lol. If there was no hell, but A life after death... wouldnt you be interested? /end rant.

I don't believe in life after death, in the sense that The Rev continues in another dimension like "the afterlife" or something. I believe in the ubiquity of consciousness, and as long as there is awareness, I am.

I believe in some kind of existence after death, but i dont think it can be comprehended or understood by us right now. even religion is probably a frail attempt at describing whatever it is. like a fish trying to describe what life out of water would be like.
And if not, thats cool too, because I wont exist to know that it doesnt continue on afterwords. But everything ive come across points to the some kind of consciousness after death. Science is still too young and un-explored to make any definitive statement and religion is too old and dogma-ridden to take at faith-value (pun def intended) so im left to my own experiences and explorations. and they tell me there is.

This means you feel there is a concept of 'death' as in things that are living cease to be alive. If you believe there is more after this consciousness ceases to exist then there is no life after death since there is no end to the life only a change from this plane to another.

Some people say this life is just a stepping stone. I don't live for an after-life, I live for this life, which I think is really important, cuz this is where I am now.
I hate to be cocky and say that I know the answers, cuz I don't. I am hopeful of a conscious life after this life. However, I don't know if there is memory of this life, or if friends and family ever really leave. I guess these are kind of extraneous thoughts. When I think about life without the body I get over-taken by a colorful sensation. I've noticed the slower I've gotten my CNS or the faster I've gotten energy in my mind, or the closer to death I've gotten, the further into the "spirit world" I've gone. Is it the mind playing games, or is a glimpse of the greater _____(no real word I know of for it) we are all a part of? I couldn't say, but I'll bet my life that everything is magical/beautiful whatever it all comes out to be.

i like to think of our body as a prism, through which life/consciousness is separated into its discreet, tangible, linear elements. when a consciousness is no longer intercepting the body, it does not express itself in ways we can conceive from within the body. i think we might remember our life but that it will matter as much as the dreams of yesteryear.
who knows if this state is common or if i will return to the confluence of standing wave energy/consciousness that we experience as physical reality as a human on planet earth in some precarious corner of an unimaginably vast universe. i just know i'm here now

Yes, i meant a conscious life after death. I dont know though... I used to think that once you died then everything went black. The End. Nothing more.
But now im thinking that there is some type of life. I do not believe there will be consciousness though. Or if there is, some type that we cannot comprehend right now. Me and this old guy at work came up with this theory: What if the universe, our lives, everything... just mere Existence is all just different dimensions. And as a soul/spirit you travel through each one and live out your "life" then move on to the next. The one all of us are in now is that we are humans living on this earth with our own conscious. Who knows how many we have gone through before or how many we have left. But there has got to be a point or leading somewhere.... idk... probably never will

What BG is saying is faith is false, the very definition of faith is belief in something with out evidence.
Sounds pretty lame, IMO. Jester has a good outlook on it, I do believe in some sort of greater spirit/mind world or something after death, maybe reincarnation. But what the bottom line REALLY is: Why does it matter? Other than a topic for discussion, these questions only worry the mind. No one wants to believe there's nothing after death.. That's scary, and any one who disagrees is only more scared, and perhaps a little stubborn.

I definitely believe in God/Heaven & Satan/Hell. This can't be all there is to it. People have to either be punished or rewarded for their life's choices.

I believe that the single point of consciousness perception of existence is an illusion that ceases when we die.

Life after death is an oxymoron anyway, so if there is any form of continuous conscious existence of a theoretical phenomenon people like to call "the soul", after the organism dies, we certainly shouldn't call it life after death. But I don't believe there is such a thing.
Like someone nicely said, energy never gets lost, it just turns into another form of energy or into something else. Human intellectual supremacy amongst all other living beings on this planet shouldn't necessarily mean that there is a crucial difference between the death of a person, a dog, an ant or maybe even a plant, it's only us who assign different values to different living beings based on our own made-up criteria. Like anybody else, I don't know either for sure what happens after I die, except that my body decomposes, including my brain with all it's complex connections that have shaped my character and personality during my lifetime... I guess life goes on, only without me... |
