Have you ever felt God?

I don't mean an old dude poking you with his holy finger from a cloud. But have you ever felt you truly felt the presence of whatever "God" means?

This one time, I'll never forget it (and I hate to make the moment cheap by writing about it online, but hopefully someone will appreciate it):

I was at my work by myself on a reallly slow day, and I was reading this article about two extreme fellas arguing. One was an atheist and one was a die-hard christian. And I remember I had this thought, like what a bunch of idiots! Don't they know that God is just a name for everything? That it's inside everything always? Our glue, our pattern?

Not a particularly astounding thought, but for some reason it seemed louder in my mind, and I swear all of the sudden I could feel every single molecule in my body. And the boundaries between myself and the universe dissolved, so that it seemed as if I was the same as every human, every rock, every star lightyears away. I've ever felt so connected or so overwhelmed. It was so random and strong and I'll never forget it.

This is probably just a completely personal interpretation of what "God" is, but I wanna know if anyone else has ever had something really meaningful like that happen.

I've felt an awesome mega connectedness to the universe but I wouldn't call it god without knowing a bit more about it.

Well if you're connected to the universe you're connected to god too by default, right? If such a hero exists.

I know what you mean though, moments when you feel close with reality. It's important to get on the level with that shit from time to time.

Yes yes yes yes! I am a panthiest! All is god to me. I love those moments! I hold them so dearly to my heart and soul.

I have had more inebriated by psychedelic compounds than I have sober(but with regular meditation is becomes way more evident). However I have had many sober. Life is beautiful beyond words, so are these experiences.

Just that electric surge rushing through all things. When I is We and it all bears witness to itself, and somehow it is channeled through this body and mind fueled through the soul from OUR soul. All I can do is cry .

I appreciate this thread. I appreciate you, and everything.

Well, all's not well
But I'm told that it'll all be quite nice
You'll be drowned in boots like Mafia
But your feet will still float like Christ's
And I'll be damned
They were right
I'm drowning upside down
My feet afloat like Christ's
I'm in heaven
Trying to figure out which stack
They're going to stuff us atheists into
When Peter and his monkey laugh
And I laugh with them
I'm not sure what at
They point and say
"We'll keep you in the back
Polishing halos, baking manna and gas"
Well, some guy comes in looking a bit
Like everyone I ever seen
He moves just like Crisco disco
Breath 100% Listerine
He says looking at something else
But directing everything to me
"Every time anyone gets on their knees to pray
Well, it makes my telephone ring
And I'll be damned"
He said, "You were right
No one's running this whole thing"
He had a theory, too
He said that God takes care of himself
God takes care of himself
And you of you
He said that God takes care of himself
God takes care of himself
And you of you
He said that God takes care of himself
God takes care of himself
And you of you
It's all nice on ice, all right
And it's not day
And it's not night
But it's all nice on ice, all right

No don't let go, till you find a home
World Unite and I'll love you forever"

I'm a professed atheist, yet on shrooms i've often felt a deep connection to god.

Its a paradox but it works for me.

Yes! Several times, and in different ways.

Once I was overwhelmed by the intense scent of a beautiful lilac bush. I was impressed with the thought that it's "language" was scent and that what it was saying, or rather what God was saying through this plant, was "I love you." A direct expression of God. That was an amazing thought... Lilacs could have been made to smell like horse manure, but instead they smell like love - they were made exactly that way.

That threads right on!! I enjoyed readin it..

These kind of experiences seem pretty accessible under the influence. Boomers always make me feel that way. But I guess this moment was more special because it felt given to me, not taken as it can be with drojas.

I'm glad everyone knows what I'm talkin about and has shared in some way with that kind of beauty. makes me feel like we all have the most important things in common!

the feelings you feel on drugs are still there when you're not on drugs. its just that drugs sometimes make those feeling exceptionally obvious. at least thats how i feel

^The fact that they can be explained logically doesnt negate the fact that they can be valid religious experiences

And the fact that these experiences correlate to a chemical reaction in the brain doesnt necessarily mean that is ALL they are

Contrary to what science wants you to believe, we dont know shit about our universe or how our brains work right now, making any conclusions like that is pretty funny to me.
