SHROOM

once you take the mushroom in the proper respectful way you will be changed forever and no body can ever take that away from you THEY know that and that is why THEY using their UN decreed a worldwide ban on ethnogenics way back in the 60's once you take the it there is no going back you will always be different to your fellow sheep, stranger in the herd but it has to be done properly not pissed up against the wall.

i agree for the most part. i do tend to believe that even with psychedelics used in this "proper" way, some people will not have these life changing effects. some people are just more simple than others, i feel.

i dont think there is any kind of sinister plot to keep psychedelics hidden from the masses. i think it was just a case of we created acid, this hugely popular hugely powerful drug, people didnt know what the fuck it was or how to respond to it, they took it overboard, and as is typical in america, the people in power felt it was a threat to society and promptly banned it. acid was actually legal for a relatively long time before they scheduled it along with other psychedelics like shrooms. and in the netherlands they were just recently banned, and only because dumb tourists would all go there and get shroomed out of their minds and do stupid shit.

i do agree with your first point about taking them respectfully and being open to what the shrooms can show you. modern society molds people into becoming passive and herdlike and psychedelics are a great remedy for that. and i dont think your views are too out there, especially if youve just had a powerful perception altering experience w/ these tools

imo doing psychs has made it harder for me to live in normal society. i dont feel like an outcast completely, but i definitely feel like im outside of the normal. this is actually why ive been curbing my usage, for now, i have to interact with normal people so i can get a little farther in the game of life before i decide id like to drop out. anyone else feel that way?

The mushroom is a powerful teacher, but I doubt I would have gotten so much from it had I not already been on a spiritual path with regular meditation practice, etc. Your thoughts can become a deafening noise if you don't know how to find that silent, empty place. It can get scary very fast if you don't know how to "allow" things, especially on large doses.

Of course, if we didn't have this out of touch and reactionary attitude toward mind enhancing substances in the West, people would certainly have more opportunities to learn to prepare for just the life altering experiences you're talking about.

^def agree with this

its sort of like steroids only work if your also exercising and eating right along with them

for alot of people shrooms are merely a catalyst, a look at the rewards a deep spiritual journey can bring and then as the high wears off that feeling is lost and the person is left going "what the fuck was that? i want more!"

unfortunately in the west the closest that alot of people can come to describing how they feel on shrooms is to bring in the G word. as for myself i was into lucid dreaming/meditation/chakras/tons of esoteric shit before i even encountered them, and when i did, they were a tremendous validation of my already existing belief structure.

but shit, for people who dont have those same beliefs, they look at the experience and go "i saw god!" or worse they have bad trips and see the devil, and demons, and evil spirits, and all that bullshit that is the result of the ones' subjective mind manifesting.

it all goes back to those dudes in the 60's who came up with the 'set and setting' idea

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_and_setting

Set and setting describes the context for psychoactive and particularly psychedelic drug experiences: one's mindset and the setting in which the user has the experience. This is especially relevant for psychedelic or hallucinogenic experiences; the term was coined by Timothy Leary.

The set is the mental state a person brings to the experience, like thoughts, mood or expectations. The setting refers to the physical or social environment. Social support networks have shown to be particularly important in the outcome of the psychedelic experience [1]. They are able to control or guide the course of the experience, both consciously and subconsciously. Stress, fear, or a disagreeable environment, may result in an unpleasant experience (bad trip). Conversely, a relaxed, curious person in a warm, comfortable and safe place is more likely to have a pleasant experience.
“ Of course, the drug dose does not produce the transcendent experience. It merely acts as a chemical key — it opens the mind, frees the nervous system of its ordinary patterns and structures. The nature of the experience depends almost entirely on set and setting. Set denotes the preparation of the individual, including his personality structure and his mood at the time. Setting is physical — the weather, the room's atmosphere; social — feelings of persons present towards one another; and cultural — prevailing views as to what is real. It is for this reason that manuals or guide-books are necessary. Their purpose is to enable a person to understand the new realities of the expanded consciousness, to serve as road maps for new interior territories which modern science has made accessible. ”

(from: The Psychedelic Experience)

Set and setting has also been investigated from a religious perspective [2].

Its normal to feel like that after tripping.

Everything has always made it seem like im on the outside looking in, not that the inside doesn't want me, oh it does, but im happier out here.

However, a nice strong dmt trip will usually straighten things out with how you interact with people as long as you do it right. Some people get nothing from dmt, some people get everything.

The only reason I bring up dmt is because it has psylocin in it. Both dmt and psylocin are VERY closely related to your serotonin molecule, its barley different at all.
