Interesting about the eye and brain. Takes in light... processes... and ultimately we see/perceive images within our minds.
Jesus said "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21, KJV) As...
Thoughts, anyone? Do you have a supporting spiritual view from another tradition? |

Thanks Waves,
This is interesting because this is basically in essence of what the retreat I went on this weekend was about, part of which was analyzing the "I" as One with the mind-body complex and as Separate from the mind-body complex, that is, what is "I" which I feel relates to "consciousness of consciousness" as he put it. The teaching suggests that "I" is neither one of these dichotomies. Just because something is made up of parts doesn't mean that one part of it is the whole thing. Think chariot metaphor as an example of Oneness of "I", that is, that our body parts are indistinguishable as they are all "I", which isn't true. The wheel of the chariot isn't the tongue nor is the left hand the right. We don't buy tickets for all our parts in the movie line up. So maybe it's then perhaps "It's" separate from it's parts, that the chariot some how exists without it's parts. That is just as untrue. It's not just a myth... we do seem to go places in our world via the horseless chariot. Even though the "I" isn't either one, the teaching doesn't reject the idea that things don't serve their purpose. This "I" exists as a thought at least. One that we place a lot of importance on. This is the 'consciousness of consciousness' in other words. The suggested path of consideration is found in the contemplations and the experience of 'feeling' these chasms in which to fall, through meditation And then use this 'medicine' to stay between on the plateau. The frank labels of said pits would be 'Inherent existence' vs 'Only Illusion'. The goal then being to bring analytical to the experiential, in other words. I'll post this again here since I feel it's a good synopsis of what I'm hoping to illustrate to you and I'll go watch the rest of the parts. I'm looking forward to hearing how they conclude, if such a thing...... exists.... wa wa wa ![]() I hope that made half sense, because this is a perfect example of 'knowing' something, but constantly being in a state of peeling back layers of experiencing and I'm not so sure I got to the being able to explain it very well layer ![]()
