Our God is greater, Our God is stronger...

a friend of mine just posted this on facebook. I dont really know the context but to me this says alot about how some people view religion/ god. is there really a god that you can posses? MY god, HIS god, OUR god whats the need for the possesive language? how can god be greater or stronger, god is all that is, god is the _______est (fill in the blank with anything).

i feel like its part of human nature to relate oneself to the people around oneself. isnt religion supposed to bring men to an equal plane rather than seperate them by whos god is stronger, and greater?

am i missing the point?

Religion. Because you can't just go around slaughtering each other without a good reason.

i have half a mind to ask him what he means by that, but im not sure i want to have that kind of discussion on the facebook news feed im sure id end up looking like the "bad guy" the crazy stoner on the lunatic fringe..

where i live, it seems like the christians/ evangelists have this competitive spirit to what they believe in. its so odd, ive only studied the bible lightly and im pretty sure thats not one of the teachings of jesus, yet some of these churches seem to rally around their bibles like its a competition to be somehow better than people of other faiths

people are imperfect and want to put their own slant on things and make interpretations according to their own habitual ways of thinking, maturity level, etc..

obviously its not only religious people who do this. it is the same thing happening when religion itself gets blamed for the actions of people who dont follow legitimate religious teachings

I think Abraham Lincoln said it best when he said during the Civil War, in the US.

Plurality of being. If there is a god, there is an exceedingly great chance that "our god" is also "their god".

There's an even better chance that "our god" is actually YOU.

I believe in God and thats my choice but I dont ram it down peeps gobs its a private thing, I hate religion where it becomes a judgmental thing and not a belief.
