Intelligence Experiment

I think that intelligence, largely, is a matter of being able to find patterns in one's environment, and that the greater intelligence is that which is capable of finding more and more subtle patterns. If this is true, then it should be possible to exercise one's pattern detecting ability in a number of ways, and increase one's intelligence.

Well, one way that seems promising to me is the assumption of different points of view. That is, training your mind by attempting to see things from other points of view as completely as you can; the more points of view the better. Being able to put yourself completely into different vantage points (not just intellectually, but emotionally as well), opens up new ways of looking at things, and, as a consequence, gives more ways of finding patterns in the chaos of our moment to moment environment.

I am already trying to expand my ability to assume different points of view, and for those of you who are familiar with my discussions of marijuana's benefits, you know I think highly of herb's ability to enhance that effort. I feel it's helped me to see many things more clearly than I otherwise would have. However, I would like feedback from others willing to try the same thing (or who have been making the effort to assume a wider range of views for other reasons) and see how the effort has effected them.

Well the first that came to mind when reading this (and about how I feel about the kind's effects on my life) is a Mayan phrase:

"You are another myself."

You mentioned the Mandelbrot set in another post I made...I agree entirely. I am a fractal viewing all the fractals surrounding me.

"Thats what it does, puts me 50 moves ahead of you" (your post reminds me of that new movie coming out)

On a more serious note, this thread is already helping me to look at a few problems on my mind from others points of view. I am going to try this for a little while and check back with any thoughts/observations. Now if only I could shatter this stupid ego of mine permanently. Cheers to a cool thread Rev

looking at something until I see a higher perception is the path i chose to follow. It shows me life's miracles, hidden in plain sight. Once I let go of denser perceptions, I invited light into my life. Human challenges began to melt away.

What kind of human challenges do you mean? I wish I could reach a place where anxiety and other problems were washed away

My challenges may not be yours. I look back at some of the challenges I've passed through (health, money, relationship challenges) and think maybe if I had been paying attention they wouldn't have had to become as big as they got before I noticed them. I think dense energy builds dense energy within..then you have layers to clear and examine before being able to release it.

The more sides you see the more possible choices you have.
