Christian Gnosticism

The last year I've been on a spiritual quest. I've been on my meds and my methadone and fianlly have the focus to read gnostic literature.

I recommend anyone to read the Nag Hammadi Libray, the apocryphal texts, and the gnostic gospels.

Currently I have a simplified version of the bible as wee as ab older king james versionm :The gnostic gospels of st thomas, st mary magdalene, and Gnosis of the cosmic christ all my Tau Malachi,

I've set up a gnostic shrine in my house with everything from buddha statues to large crossesl

The most interesting aspect of Gnosticism is firstly the male-female aspect of everything (i.e. god is the father mother, jesus's female counterpart to Logos is sophia etc.).

Secondly there is a strong idea that the God of the new testment is a perfect Gpd (the creator of all the as) but the god of the old testament was an imperfect and jealous God (the creator of the physical world), and our salvation is reliant on reaching "gnosis" a knowledge of cosmic origins. people like Jesus, buddha, mani, bodidhae mam john the baotist, set ecr were all sent "born" of the true father to spready Gnosis.

Sounds good, SB.

The Nag Lib. is really good stuff. I actually posted a video on the "Lost Gospel of Judas" in there the other day, maybe you'd enjoy it. While it's not a Nag text, it IS an early Christian-Gnostic text and is a pretty recent find, if I'm not mistaken.

I think the Abrahamic religions, be they Judaism, Christianity, or Islam, can all be broken down into two kinds of messages: 1)What the right way to live your life is, and 2)Why you should be scared shitless not to obey Messages #1. And much of the contradiction in the bible comes between #1 messages and #2 messages, and rarely between messages of the same kind.

For example: #1 "Thou Shalt Not Kill", but #2 "God ordered the Jews to kill every living thing in Canaan, men, women, children, even animals" Those who accepted the rules about how to live their lives correctly got to live, but others were subject to slaughter, sanctioned by the Lord.

But the problem is, I really think it's the #2 messages are what either drive people away from the Abrahamic religions, and therefore the benefit of the #1 messages, or it drives them to try and reinterpret the religions contained within.

It would be my advice to anyone to take a real leap of faith, and just consider the #1 messages while rejecting the fearmongering. I know you're supposed to be scared to do that, but that's why you have to have faith. I think the biblical tigers, much like the bible itself, are made of paper.

I just started working with a guy who just doesn't stop talking about God and religion in a very philosophical way, without accepting my agnostic look at those things he feels an obligation and responsibility to "open my eyes" and other philosophical crap.

He really seams to be brainwashed in one of those very intensive Landmark brainwashing seminars.
