well that is a bummer if true...
hard to imagine the guys doing the experiments wouldn't account for the effect had on their satalites tho... but yeah, im looking forward to a definitive answer and not just a "that is probably what happened"

that is actually the same thing. what i am objecting too is not the source of your information, but rather that i object to non-scientists reading non-scholarly materials and opining about science.
a real source of information is a scientific paper, and it looks like this http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/...110.2685v3.pdf what you have produced, and could easily produce more of, are articles written for mass consumption on the subject of the authors synopsis of a scientific paper, which the author may or may not have read in its entirety. these often overlook critical facts and analysis to make broad generalizations and simplicities out of events that are anything but simple. in general they even neglect to mention the author of the paper and the journal it was published in.

the satellites responsible for synchronizing the clocks were not stationary (or comoving on the same geodesic) so there was some relativistic effects that could account for up to 64ns of error in the measurement of time. this is more or less the exact amount that the stuffs was measured to be moving faster than light (60ns). the calculations were theoretical, but since similar corrections were not a part of the experimental design it is highly likely the cause of the discrepancy. this shows how incredibly sensitive such experiments are.
ps. read the paper yourself, you aren't a moron (i think)

anything that confuses physicists this much is welcome in my opinion. you don't really learn anything interesting unless you are confused first

the whole "trying to get un-confused" is the fun part about science anyway.
Shit would be boring as fuck if our foundations didnt get routinely shook. lucky for us, we still dont know SHIT
