A responsible parent would teach him how to torrent safely, imo. He's going to do it either way, might as well teach him how to avoid pr0n and malware.

So my plan is I'll be banking on his laziness and just download his music for him.

Seems like the most logical and rational plan.

Eventually he'll want to do it on his own and then like nun said I'll teach him how to do it properly.

Until then I'll make sure he goes through me first. That way me and his mom aren't worried (not like we were panicking or anything but it was a thought) and his computer won't blow up.

Everybody wins.

yarp. also forums like warez-bb(dot)org are good sources of downloads.

when direct links like rapidshare and megaupload give me ~1mb/s speeds with usually better selection and i wont get a letter in my mail why would i torrent?

can you browse the internet from an ipod touch? because if so, he can just google porn and watch it from there (works on an iphone). so, if there's that much of a will, I suppose there's a way... but i dig the itunes card idea (good thinking) and making him work for it.

It stated something about losing service for violation of terms of service, and data caps.

and alot of dropout/no service problems.

makes sense i guess. but for the record you dont really need to pay to use the type of sites i mentioned, and they often can max out my download speed anyway.
