Post Spirituality

Forget dictionary definitions.

What does "Spirituality" mean to you? Are you a spiritual person? How?

Spirituality means that you have true faith in something. That you believe something with all your heart and soul and that you would defend it to the death. It is something you can fall back on when your not completely sure of yourself and it will give you strength. It is knowing that you are not perfect and succombing to a greater power or order.
I myself do not have spirituality. it means nothing to me personally. Maybe i just havent found something i truly believe in yet.

I disagree (not to at all start a debate or argument, rather start my own opinion).

One of my beliefs is to question everything, every belief constantly, never decieve yourself by assuming you know something for sure.

I think spirituality is the search for the truth in life, not how to get a better job, raise a family, etc although it can tie into these things. I think spirituality is the search to better your soul, to make your mind, body, and spirit whole.

A spiritual person sees (or should see in my opinion) more than the obvious. He is aware of that which is not there. He is sensitive to his sourroundings, and always curious.

This is in my way the "correct" answer. It's just my view.

That does not make any sense at all.

knowledge wisdom understanding. yall know how i belive in karma and positive/negative forces, so i try to test them, but the only conclusions my tests can come to are coincidence. but its my search for understanding and knowledge that lead me to do the tests, or question things. and i think the answer lead to wisdom, if u know how to interpret them.

Spirituality for me is being in touch with God, feeling the world around you, like nature, weather, etc. Just feeling all the beauty.

Spirituality. I think that spirituality doesn't have to do with ultimate faith or anything. I consider my self spiritual but not religious. Spirituality is wondering about more than just this mortal coil. It is about trying to find what this life is all about and where we're going. Damn lost my train of thought but there ya go.

spirituality is all the huge thoughts and ideas you have in your mind, not the little ones that drive you through your day, but the meaningful, the questions with no answers but infinite possibilities. It's exploring your own thoughts, and being amazed in what you learn about yourself from them. It's the feeling that everything, absolutely everything is connected in some unbelieveably complicated way.

It's going outside and watching huge storm clouds roll in, and seeing lightning, and just staring in wonder at the sky. Looking at the stars on a clear night, and feeling overwhelmed with how huge the sky is and how far it might go. It's looking closely at the veins of a plant's leaf, and the angles they create, and picking a cicada's shell off a tree, and studying the perfect semi-trasparent cast of the cicada's body. And just looking at everything and knowing that there is something magical, or spiritual, about everything in the world.

Unicorn,

Here is an article you might find interesting...

-Hedons

Universal Veins

Despite the stunning diversity of leaf shapes from one plant variety to another, a universal formula may guide the vein patterns in all leaves. Researchers at the Laboratorie de Physique Statistique (S. Bohn, 33-1-4432-3447, bohn@lps.ens.fr) and the Museum National d'Historie Naturalle, both in Paris, recently studied the networks of veins in leaves from several plant types.

An analysis of leaf vein networks revealed simple relationships between the angles that veins form when they intersect and the thickness of the veins at the intersections. At a three-way junction of similarly sized veins, the angles between the veins are all roughly 120 degrees (see image). At locations where a small vein joins a large vein, however, the angles between the small vein and the larger one approach 90 degrees.

Imagine, for example, the angles formed by pulling on a light thread tied to a taut rope. The similarity between a network of threads and ropes exerting forces on each other and the patterns in leaf veins suggested to the researchers that there is an underlying mechanism in leaf formation that is reminiscent of simple mechanics problems.

The model breaks with theories of leaf networks related to soap froths (which require all intersection angles to equal 120 degrees), crack propagation (with 90 degree intersections where new cracks meet old cracks), and Turing diffusion (which leads to patterns that resemble spreading tree branches, rather than the net-like patterns found in leaf veins). Some botanists had considered leaf veins as potential tools for categorizing plants.

The universal similarity of vein structure from one plant to another suggests that the patterns provide insight to leaf mechanics, but are of little help in distinguishing or cataloging plants. (S. Bohn et al., Phys. Rev. E, June 2002.)

Thank you hedons,

Perhaps all plants share this same structure of veins to supply nutrition to the plant evenly, just as our own veins in our bodies are located specifically for bloodflow to those areas, and every human has basically the same vein structure.

It's all connected, some things may just seem random, but it's usually because the pattern behind it is too complicated for us to grasp.

Well excuse me. It was a typo. What it was supposed to read is being aware of that which doesn't appear to be there, or takes a different form. I hope this clears things up.

Spirituality is thinking for yourself about yourself. The cornerstone of it is awareness, being perceptive of your five senses and not getting caught in a day dream. In this way we activate our conciousness, the higher part of ourselves which allows us to act and make better decisions than if we were under the influence of our egos or personality. We all come into a situation of what we think it is, and we often fabricate it in our minds causing us to fool ourselves. Awareness helps us break that mental barrier we put up ourselves. Spirituality is not identifying with the activities of your daily life. Spirituality is what lets us see the truth so we can fucking brawl with the leaders of our current relgious and political systems. Fuck shit up and rebel, in the name of spirituality.
