Tao te ching

hey everyone i just finished the tao te ching by lao tzu, it was increadible, i felt more enlightened with every turn of a page. it was so simple yet so complex. just wondering if any one hear has read it and what were your thoughts on it. and if you havent heard of it, read it! it is fantastic! i used to pick it up after a smoking session and just read the passages over and over. definitley worth a read!

that is a great idea, there are so many i love and want to share ok here is a mix of 2

when people find one thing beautiful,
another consequently becomes ugly.
when one man is held up as good,
another is judged as deficient

similarly being and non being balance each other
difficult and easy define each other
long and short illistate each other
high and low rest upon one another
voice and song meld into harmony
what is to come follows upon what has been
OK HERE IS PART OF ANOTHER ONE I LOVE
therefore, the wise person sets an example by
emptying her mind,
opening her heart,
relaxing her ambitions,
relinquishing her desires,
cultivating her character.
having conquered her own cunning and cravings she cant be manipulated by any one
do by not doing
act with non action
allow order to arise of itself.
THESE FEW LINES MEAN SO MUCH AND MAKE SO MUCH SENCE,IF YOU ARE STILL CURIOUS THERE ARE PROBALY NUMEROUS WEB SITES WITH THE WRITTINGS. WHAT DO YOU THINK? PLEASE EXCUSE THE CAP WRITTING

It is sort of like yin and yang huh? Along these lines I would recomend trying a meditation. You sit or lay down comfortably and relax. Focus on awareness. And then allow yourself to have thoughts about the environment around you such as "it's hot, i hear a bird," etc. Then what you do is you think the opposite of those thoughts "it's cold, there is no bird" The thoughts cancel eachother out and it is a way to "empty your mind". What happens when you get it right is that you are put into a place of serenity and stillness, almost transcending time into eternity. the thoughts cease because they have been exhausted and "thought-out", so to speak. It's called the duality, it takes time to get right, but it gives a lot of inspiration for personal growth. Give it a try.

That's some pretty insightful stuff. It speaks truths that seem to get supressed in todays world simply out of convenience.

Anyone interested in the fundamentals of taoism should read The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff.
