I understand what you mean. I often ask myself the same things for a lucid dream. Are the characters in there actually people from waking life who are dreaming too.. or are they just my creation.. and either way is there even a difference. I dont really know.

The overall important factor which drives mankind is FOOD, without it you cannot reproduce, you cannot dream, therefore with out it you do not exist. Mankind has travelled from contienent to contienent in search of this, only when man was able to successfully sustain himself (i.e. farming, animal husbandry) did he think about his origin, religeon and other man made facade's.

I think the biggest one has always been why. Sanchez had an article and it talked about how childrens' third eye (forgot the medical term) is bigger than adults' and maybe that's why children are always so curious and full of questions. But instinctually it's survival. Food, water, shelter, and reproduction are all ways to survive.

A gateway drug to say the least, further more people use without even consideration, not consenting to moderation in the least, and dont even get me started on the withdrawels. the goal of alchemy is to turn lead into gold. to take a substance and combine it with another substance that makes it more than it's origenal worth. in this sense, you really need to start making bronze statues of your pharmacist or local chemist, for they have made gods own medicine, morphine, and in contrast, a shiney rock doesnt seem to compete.
