what the bleep doesn't have half of the information on quantum physics that alot of books do. and it doesn't have half of the credibility that alot of books do either. i'm just afraid that the movie could turn people off of quantum physics.

are you taking calculus based physics or the other stuff?

i've got a final in 1 week for physics

edit: i think the biggest disappointed this movie had for me was that blockbuster labelled it 'comedy'

"The Tao of Physics" is a book that talks about quantum physics and the natural laws of the universe. Its a recommended read on the topic.

bump, I'd like to hear from pros and cons from some people who weren't around then or didn't reply.

Nice! This was my 'gateway book' into higher thinking. Had an incredible synchronicity with it to, which was so ironic in the first place. Great book that really lead me to bigger and bigger concepts and eventually I feel a true spirituality.

I just saw 'What the Bleep Do We Know' the other night for the first time. I liked it. I am no expert in the science of the ideas presented, so I can't confirm propaganda or not, but it almost entirely conforms with my intuition rooted spiritual beliefs and therefore find it highly digestible.

I think it's a good way to digest that other people have opinions. On that level this is a popular movie for that. I liked some things I heard, but also wasn't astounded by all of it. I'm saying I guess some people's heads might pop on hearing some larger ideas and this movie make it seem pretty non offensive and isn't defending itself by cursing anyone else either. That is a good way to go about it. Not like Bill's Religilous where by the end he's basically calling you an asshole for believing anything that isn't right infront of your face. Irony considering what some people DO feel is right infront of their face.....

anyways... Great book Ego T. I'm glad that you like it and can recognize that this was a turning point in your thinking. NICE!

I saw that movie, it was a year or two ago, but the taste is still there. I thought it was a little bit silly. There was a lot of fluff, and thought it was an inaccurate application of the actual science. A scene that really sticks out was the one with the kid on the basketball court, and all the basketballs popping up everywhere. Or the intro with the deaf girl, going though all the different possibilities of her day.

I actually don't rememberr if those were used as actual examples or just as representations of what they observed happening on the atomic level.

Either way it was an interesting movie, and a good start to for anyone looking to learn more on the subject. But if you take the movie at face value(like i think the OP did), and don't do any personal investigation, its kinda just entertainment, no learning involved.

I think this is what I was getting at. Entertainment that atleast shines a flashlight in a few corners of the mind, if not a possible low wattage bulb installation. I don't think that anything should just be swallowed either. That is why I do like this movie for what it is. One being the first thing I mentioned and Two its a good catalyst for curious mind. And not dry I've watched some heady things and sometimes its just physically boring, even though there is good info. So the fluff keeps em riveted, but I'm sure it didn't add to the straight cred. of the picture as a whole.

Like Quantum Disney Land you can enjoy the rides without all those f-in 6ft tall characters. Sometimes it more effective to just have an effective bare bones approach. This one is somewhere on the Disney side of the middle.
