Watch this movie: What the Bleep Do We Know!!
I watched this movie three times in a row, stoned out of my mind! The movie has changed my perspective on life permanently. Very cool stuff. I also highly suggest Waking Life, a very intense animated film about life in general as well. Any other movies out there like these?

Give it another shot. I saw the film when it was in theaters a year ago, and have purchased the DVD just so I can show it to people.
I think it's an excellent documentary, in that it makes these ideas accessible to the average viewer who knows nothing about quantum mechanics. The problem is the same one brought up in the film, that these ideas are so totally counterintuitive to most people that they stop listening. I think the section on addiction is very informative. I think the greatest theme of the piece is that we have control of our own lives, and that we can shape our reality into anything we choose if we truly believe we can. I find that very empowering.

My sociology professor (whom I highly respect) recommended this movie, so I rented it last week. I was sorely disappointed. It didn't tell me anything I hadn't already thought about. But, I thought maybe it would have some value to people stupider than me who haven't thought about the topics presented, so I had my parents watch it. They fell asleep halfway through it.

Cool movie!
Quote from movie: "What I thought was unreal, now for me, seems in some ways to be more real, than what I think to be real, which seems now to be more unreal." Hard quote to remember though.

It's about quantum mechanics explaining the sub-atomic world, the basic elements of reality. They may be the most basic, but probably not. And about how the body and mind interact and shit. It's like magic science.

it was great when i first saw it (even though it was a bit of a letdown), but now it's just "not bad". i now find that it patronizes the audience, claims much more than it proves, and contains some propaganda. it has people like ramtha (Ramtha is the name of a being that JZ Knight claims to channel. Knight asserts that Ramtha is a 35,000 year old spiritual being who was, according to Knight, "a Lemurian warrior who conquered the continent Atlantis and later became enlightened." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramtha) and fred alan wolf (who charges $130 a person for his speeches) leading it; carries on about the water crystals thing like it's totally proven; and is edited in a way to mostly support the scientists which funded it (i.e. ramtha)... i dunno, i guess you've just got to expect this kind of thing from "new age" films...
i'm personally waiting for a non-new age film on quantum physics that will utterly knock wtbdwk out of the water... if any of you are interested in quantum physics, i recommend that you start off with books instead of what the bleep.

That movie is seriously trippy, the thing about the water molecules was nuts!

it was "meh"
i'd recommend holographic universe (it's a book, not a movie) to anyone who actually wants to expand on the different possibilities that their life may be. theres probably several other books in that isle you find holographic universe in too, like "the new brain" or "the universe in a nutshell/brief history of time" that you also may find interesting. but really, those movies dont do much if you ask me. which yeah, i know, no one did. go bleep yourselves.

interesting, the preference of a book over a movie. whats the longest you've movie you've watched? now, whats the most hours you've spent reading a book? pretty interesting difference, no? now, what if you spent that much time with one movie? that covered the same amount of material but in a visually stimulating and aiding way? i think there's a lot of potential in movies, but so far it's all condensed so much that you usually lack the "full" experience of the book. i dunno stoned thoughts.

yeah, i agree fully.
if you can get the amount of information you acheive from a book into a movie, by all means watch the movie. that can be done with several books, dont let the teacher's lie to you, there are some books the movie surpases in content. however when it comes to this subject, a 2 hour movie aint even skimming it, and it's barely stimulating to those who have put a little research into it.
