I was a christian for the first 16 yrs of my life and when I reached that age I thought about too manythings, like is Ghandi going to hell? and alot of the thoughts expressed here....I could rationalize the Scripture " A day is a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day". That made sense to me because I could grasp infinitie time, which is a concept I hold true. As I started my own theology as I grew older and found other religions to incorperate or relate to, I realized that I wasn't what the average person would have considered a "real" christian, in my church. Now that more time has passed I am able to revisit the bible and find things that I can apply to my life. However it is not viewed upon much differently than any other religions texts. I think the more "god" is explained the more it loses in mystery. I don't know what "god" IS, but I do believe it can't be anything that would want to hurt us intentionally. god is all ,I am part of all, a co creator. I don't get the whole firery god thing.
The whole firery god thing was a fear tactic, just like the "heaven" thing, only with heaven it was a selfish/greed tactic, they talked about crowns filled with jewels, streets paved in gold, wtf?, but they will claim that the use of material wealth was just so man could understand, wtf?

The biggest thing I've learned is the more you know about other religions, the more you know about your own. Most christian churchs I ever went to told me that the other were wrong and don't waste my time.....how much does the average jesus freak really know about the bible more often than not.

Shit people tell me I'm a good christian all the time.....little do they know

Peace man the biggest thing I hold true and makes me the saddest is, that religion should bring people together..not drive them apart.

Love
True word.

i treat everyone how i would like to be treated in the religion aspect...i stay open minded and dont push my beliefs on anyone...it is most christians that i kno however that push their religion onto me and pressure me to change for their own likeing, those people alone make me not want to be any more christian than jewish or muslim...

what is the word for believing in your own thing?

This is very much a myth. Copies and passing-ons of scripture have been shown to be extremely consistent, though there are, of course, examples of falsification.

Christians today generally refer to the bible to find out what God has to say. While that may certainly be useful, many of them neglect to communicate with him themselves. The bible records thousands of stories where God speak in a thousand ways, from dreams and visions to prophets and, in one case, through a donkey. Burning bushes, writing on the wall, roaring thunder, the voice in your heart - they're all there. I think it's sad that so many today are limiting God's way of speaking to a book.

I don't think the bible was written to be followed 2000 years afterwards. No man can anticipate the changes that occur in over 20 generations. But you'd think god could...

At the same time that I would love to believe in a creator so senseless to create the human race, I just don't see it. Some great being who can create whole universes and existance, just makes us, let's us reproduce then grades our actions... Obviously something created us so there is a creator(whether it's an single cell organism or god I dunno).

As for your biblical questions, does a deer go to heaven or hell? If a buddhist dies and was a good person does he go to hell for not believing in the lord almighty? What about someone who smokes cannabis and degrades the temple in which god bestowed upon you(no argument tar in your lungs isn't healthy)? I guess if your a believer than you shouldn't worry about god's job and wait to see some ancient people sitting in heaven with you.

Theism always let's me down. Then again so does science.

You gotta be able to decipher the scams of authors and translation that are found within the bible.

Besides all that jazz it's a good book. Some divine messages that transcend time are definitely a part of it.

Really? I see no problem with libertarianism. Lower government, more freedom. Maybe that's just an absurd thought.

A man arrives at the gates of heaven.
St. Peter asks, "Religion?"
The man says, "Episcopalian."
St. Peter looks down his list, and says, "Go to room 24.
But be very quiet as you pass room 8."

Another man arrives at the gates of heaven.
St. Peter: "Religion"?
Man: "Baptist."
St. Peter: "Go to room 18. But be very quiet as you pass
room 8."

A third man arrives at the gates.
St. Peter: "Religion?"
Man: "Jewish."
St. Peter: "Go to room 11. But be very quiet as you pass
room 8."

The man asks, "I can understand there being different rooms
for different religions, but why must I be quiet when I pass
room 8?"

St. Peter tells him, "Well, the Catholics are in room 8,
and they think they're the only ones here."

^ see the problem isn't libertarianism or socialism or conservatism or liberalism or even fascism. the problem is extremism! no one should be a libertarian, socialist etc. that's such a fucking lazy behavior. "i'm going to think in this way for every situation!!!" a more well-reason approach would be assessing each situation and developing a plan of action which aligns with your desired result. since every situation is unique, every situation requires a unique strategy particular to it's unique arrangement of variables

i think we could all do well to realize how little we actually think about our actions and we let guide them. that goes for all aspects of life, as individuals and a collective
