The Age of Anger

I heard the current times refered to as The Age of Anger recently, while surfing some meditation sites. I was struck by it, because I hadn't really thought of it in those terms before. However, when you consider the craziness in the world since 9/11, alongside smaller-time problems like road rage, the general increase in rudeness, the increase in violence in art and the media, etc. it starts to seem like we are, definitely, living in an Age of Anger.

Opinions?

well, i agree, anger is more socially accepted then recent times (not including medival times and such, the last 100 years lets say)

but you have to expect that to happen when we as a people are still opressed (right word?).

People are angry because the world is angry.

people are angry because we have alot of stuff to be angry about, alot of things we need to change. but we CCANT change them, so the anger is funneled into other aspects of our lives.

I think that today, unlike even 20-30 years ago, there is just so much more to decide, think about, deal with, or whatever. We're bombarded with demands on our minds and lives. I think this adds to a kind of constant state of distraction which can be taxing, and make people more irritable.

People need to reach out to others because the unlikeness of 20-30 years ago. I guess, I dunno, I wasn't around then.

Anger is a way that I reach out to people. It's something anyone can connect with, and it doesn't matter what it is, unless you're really mad about it, anger can be just about the only thing connecting people nowadays. I get people angry just so they feel like they have a reason to talk when they are angry. It's like people make up excuses not to talk about the things on their mind, and need to have a button pushed in order for that person to experss themselves.

That's why I try to get people angry. It makes them more iinteresting to me and gives the other person something to talk about. And I always found that people who you started off angry with you always have the best relationships.

theres alot of anger these days

people are angry because they dont take a minute to control themselves. They react with bitchyness, even for nonsense things.

No one to blame but themselves.

Bitchy people ruin THEIR lives (with their negative attitude), but also the lives of others.

For example, you can be a nice and polite person, but spend an hr with an asshole and all of a sudden your great mood is filled with bitterness.

It takes too much energy to hate.

I have plenty to dislike people like you who just assume they know something about me without even asking your own questions to make better judgments.

When you've got no other outlet, don't knock anger.

I try to not be an angry person. It really bothers me when I let stress make me angry. It is so unproductive.

Anger is healthy when directed at the right source...like those who deserve it. More people in the world makes for more anger. We have easier access(internet) to know that there are more angry people. They were always there, you just didn't know it. I have great sex when I'm pissed off, that's all i know.

people are angry because the world is overpopulated.

thats a major reason for violence in the ghetto, considering you have huge families living in small filthy apartments with shitty/no utilities.

too many people to feel comfortable/stable in an environment. this causes the use of certain outlets, namely: violence, sex, religion, and drugs.

If you read yahooka especially FFA for more than 5 minutes you see that people have a lot of hate for things they aren't even a part of, in any way.

The Rat Race, Beating out the Jone's, capitolism and the seration of the wealth in the wortld ,is my answer. Its where the winner has the most stuff to be Attached....to...... .? Attachment causes Suffering, and trying to fill the void with more stuff leads to more suffering. Supply and demand. The people who seem to be on top make it look easy, and there are people that want that life that can only get it thru violence, more anger more suffering. When really those "top cats" are guarded tooth and nail waiting to pounce on the person trying to take it away. Anxiety...Suffering. To some degree people need to be content, and see that even the poor in America are rich, its the capitolist model that makes them poor and keeps them there Its hard to be content when the world tells you that you need need more, and then more than the person next to you. The stuggle to get more of what? Molded plastic? The real world isn't money and dollars, it the mind and place that you are right now.

Trying to stay free from attachment has been my path out, and trying is all anyone can do.

i hate that people get angry when they don't have to. most causes for anger stem from misunderstandings anyway. before you get angry, try giving someone the benefit of the doubt. chances are they aren't martin luther king with a silver tongue who can express any sentiment without fear of misinterpretation of their words.

people get angry because they are too stupid to come up with the right questions to sort out the miscommunications.

i change my answer to that.
