Kush and Hydro... is there a difference?

in my area its been really dry and only hydro has been around but ppl are starting to sell hydro grams for $25.00 and say its kush when i was only charged $20.00 bucks of their other shit when it was only supposedly hydro.... is there a difference

The word hydro seems to be used out of context.

OG Kush is a strain of weed developed in LA (apparently). There are many strains of weed that have the word Kush in them, it indicates some ancestry from the Hindu Kush mountain range in their breeding.

Hydroponics is a technique of growing plants with just water, no soil. Any plant can be grown hydroponically. Many people (myself included) are of the opinion that the best weed is grown in soil although some would disagree. So the word hydro or dro has no bearing on the quality or type.

So Kush could be hydro or not. Hydro could be venus fly trap or just about anything else.

Hydro = Hydroponics (growing method)

Kush = Type of weed, usually heavy Indica strain
ex. bubba kush, OG kush, master kush

The difference in smell when comparing weed grown indoors (hydroponically/smells weird but looks just "ok"/some crystals) with weed grown outdoors is insane. Typically weed grown in soil in ideal indoor conditions will produce excellent results as well.

Dro is known around here as "mids". I have specifically told my dealer to tell me ahead of time if he only has "the dro". I told him I don't like that stuff. He understands completely.

"Kush" is just a label the dealer is putting on a broad range of high quality bud, guaranteed. My dealer calls everything related to bud that is high end as being "haze". Most dealers don't know the cloned plant they are buying to sell - they know the quality/worth of what they are getting of course. I've seen haze, I've smoked haze, and therefore, I know what it looks and smells like (a grayish color with lots of crystals, pleasant but a less sweet initial hit - it expands on you) what I've been getting is NOT haze. Not that I'm complaining or anything as the stuff I'm getting is better. I like speedier weed highs than haze offers anyway.

I used to be able to get some legit g13 that was amazing.

as others have said before there are different strains which are usually indica or mostly indica that have kush in the name: hindu kush, purple kush, pure kush, OG kush, bubba kush, master kush, etc.

hydro is hydroponics and is a growing method, where rather than soil you sometimes use a medium and nutrients are mixed into the water for the plant so that it gets nutrition.

People use dro or kush usually to mean good weed, chronic, whatever you want to call it. I doubt you're dealer actually knows much about the bud, and is probably just saying that so he can make more money or seem like he knows more about the bud than he actually does.
