I'm almost 50 and just smoked my first night before last. I did it to relieve chronic neuropathy pain that I have. And, it worked GREAT... not to mention how well it mellowed me out!! So, it's got me doing some reading about growing. But, I have a question. Most everything I read says that you smoke just the bud... not the leaves. Why don't folks smoke the leaves? I'm new and just curious... so, be nice to me... please!!!!

the leaves contain more plant material than they do THC, so they taste bad and don't get you as high as the buds would. Some people take the leaves off of the plants and make hash out of them, or even save them to roll "100% cannabis cigars."

Like he said, leaves are just too low in active ingredients to be worth smoking.

They can still be used to make bubble hash, iso hash, bute hash, or scores of edibles. I'm really glad you found something to relieve your pain man.

Search hash making for tips on making hash or browse the Cannabis Cuisine section for edibles. We have some pretty experienced pot chefs here. Growing the Good Herb (abbreviated GTGH) is the section you want to look for growing tips. Lots of good resources and if you get stuck there are lots of experienced (knowledgeable and friendly) growers.

trim leaves are fine to smoke

fan leaves =

compost the fan leaves, make bubble hash or honey oil or cannabutter with the trim.


and just to clarify, trim leaves are the small leaves covered in trichs, fan leaves are the big leaves not covered in trichs.

I remember my first plant keeping jars of fan leaves because I had delusions of making hash. Procrastination, my buddy, made sure that never happened. Now I toss them. Discretely.

you do need about 50 pounds of fan leaves to get anything from the SCBE but if you have em you can get a zip or so of honey oil. Lots of butane too.

Thanks a bunch for all the good information and your kindness. I belong to several forums that cover an array of subjects. And, you all have been kinder to me than any other forum... not a jacka$$ or a$$ hole in the bunch!!

I doubt I'll ever try my hand at cigars... I just don't care for cigars. But, I will keep a bit of bud around for the pain in my feet and legs!! After about 3 years of debilitating, intolerable pain, it was so wonderful to have a few hours that were completely pain free!! And, for the first time in about 3 years, I slept like a baby!!!! I just wish I had known about the great benefits of bud a long time ago! But, I know about them now!!!!!!!!!!
