Mycelium is indeed amazing. Its awesome to think about the implications of mushrooms as nature's great recyclers. There are species of mushroom that can even process crude oil for nutrients. Just consider what this would mean in bio remediation efforts with oil spills. The mycelium "soaks up" the oils, processes them into harmless byproducts, and produces edible (and pretty tasty) fruiting bodies.
Another thought, much of all the world's soil is a result of mycelial networks breaking down detritus and raw earth. Without mushrooms, we would only have a fraction of the available space for agriculture. ALL HAIL MUSHROOMS!

Some people have even theorized that mushrooms and/or other psychotropic drugs helped early man by acting as a catalyst for the creation of spoken language. It's funny how "illegal" drugs get such a bad rap, but we as a species probably owe alot of our development to them.

holy CRAP! That video was great. I've always thought fungi/algae has potential for environmental uses. I mean think about it, algae and fungi take very little energy to do what it does. They also have many different forms and also probably have many unknown properties we have yet to discover.

Mycelium has been identified in 4 billion year old clay concretions in quebec....... Nasa seeks for more answers at Pavillion Lake while Phfizer is actively researching the very thin layer of mycelium in the concretions......... .the possibility of curing everything from aids-nuts is now in the forseeable future.

Huh, I've had mostly odd but good trips. I always felt weird for the next 24 hours or so there after - like in a semi-anxious state.
