The video - isn't it neat that you can stick that thing right into your post? - shows a model very similar to one I use for a while. I gave it back to the giver, though. I preferred a simple pipe. The model shown has what I see as the classic imperfections of the type. I must say, though, that I've wondered if the difference wasn't actually that I'd gotten used to the unhealthy smoke and didn't think I was getting ripped if I didn't see the smoke coming out, in which case even if we figured out how to make this thing I wouldn't like the results. But I've smoked a couple dozen times with different vaporizers, and never once got much stoned. Stonage is such a very idiosyncratic experience that perhaps it's not possible to extrapolate from the individual to the general.
Yes, we do inhale some unburned butane. The flame only burns completely if the flame form is undisturbed. When we suck the flame down into the bowl, it's burning efficiency is reduced by the contorted flame form by what I've read is around 25%. In other words, butane only burns completely if the lighter is held upright in still air. Anything that deforms the flame shape introduces unburned gas.

So that thin green layer in your sketch would be the Kindness? I'm not sure I understand the point of the fan - wouldn't the sucking in of the consumer be all the airflow needed? And would the spring at the left end be to push the heat source into the pot?

About the police invisibility, I was just being obtuse. From my experience, police are not very intelligent or observant people. Give them something they don't recognize as relevant to them, and reality just passes them by. So sitting there putting something to your mouth they don't recognize makes one 'invisible'. Probably not, in reality. But hey -
If we get this thing figured out and it has any virtue, we could make it look like a pickle! Or even worse - I've used this on police before, the fact that anything remotely gay makes them so twitchy. A young straight friend and I were sitting by the Willamette River last summer, smoking a pipe, when some bike cops came into view. They saw us and started to peddle our way when I told my friend to give me his hand. As the pigs approached, he snuggled into me as I held his hand. Piggies just kept on going, they didn't want to have a *thing* to do with us. Amazing but true. If folks are going to wander around with minds that small, one might as well take advantage.
So we could REALLY disguise this thing - and the testicles could be storage areas for more kindness!

Hey, it's just a thought. Just a filthy, filthy thought . . .
