The importance of destemming your weed ASAP

I think I've come to realize a fatal flaw in my smoking habits.

Usually when I buy a sack of weed I just pick at it until it's all gone. Load a bowl here, load a bowl there. I "try" to seperate the leaf from the stem in the very beginning, but eventually all of the weed kind of dries up into a mish mash of stem and leaf. Thus I just load up whatever shake is left in the bag. Except for obviously big pieces of stem.

But you know, the shit dries out in the plastic baggy and it all turns to crumbs before you know it.

So now I'm thinking that I've been smoking trace amounts of stem with practically all of my bowls. Had I have made the effort to destem my sack AS SOON as I buy it, then I probably would have been enjoying much nicer smokes all along.

Fuck me

I don't know what you're talking about..

back when I smoked shwage I would only break weed apart before smoking a bowl, and I would just go through and pic every last stem out of the bowle amount, even the small little twigletts, it'nt hard.

Idk, it never gets bone dry in a sealed bag. I just hate it when people sell weed with more stem than is necessary. people are lazy as hell when trimming so they sell in mini stalks now days

If your getting good weed there should be barely any stem to begin with. Mostly just nuggs.

You're not storing your weed right if the stems are crumbling brah. Lose the plastic bags for a start.

I find putting a small piece of orange peel in the bag helpful.

I've always felt this is true too. I just roll up or zip up the baggy and leave it on my nightstand. Is there a more proper way?

imo the stems from good weed are better than bad weed itself.

i wouldnt worry too much about little stems. and get a little plasitc film canister(do these even exist anymore?) or something that will help cut down on drying.

Get a jar of any sort, this is a good start. From time to time I breath a 'haaaaah' into my stash and this keeps in from becoming dust by the end of the month. I usually go through a 1/4 in a month and my herbs stay pretty fresh till the end.

Clean out a small jar of jam or pesto, wash it out really good and dry it. A smaller jar has less air in it, so this is the goal, imo.

I say if the stem is small enough to break up then it's too small to notice when I'm smoking.

I usually, immediatly, spray down the entire bag with purified water.

just enough to 'drizzle' the bag.

Then gently pressing the bag like a rough dry sponge soaking up water.

After, the bag is evenly but not overly drenched and buds are flexible,
use a toothpick to pluck out the seeds.

By poking, proding, and 'neading' the buds with the tooth pick
the seeds should just pop out; without obliterating the entire bud into shake.

There is another reason why one should de-seed they're new sack.
The Plant, though cut like a rose, is still alive, and still growing, including maturing seeds.

I keep my stash in a large cigar humidor, and it stays fresh for months.
At first my good weed had very little seeds very dense,
by the end of the month,
White prematrure seed were starting to grow.

Also when the bud is moist and flexible,
it almost slides off the stems like boiled pieces of chicken.
Leaving the bud intact.

I agree, when your ready to smoke use small sharp scissors to cut off "a bowl".
You'll find the shake factor diminish and fat 'nuggig' increase.

hijabihippie I find putting a small piece of orange peel in the bag helpful.

That's a classic old school form, where some use differrent fruits.
Just make sure the fruit doesn't touch the weed and not too much moisture; mold!

Please be gentle with the herb, it's still alive!

*Other notables who use a cedar box to transport weed:

David Crosby
Found in a hotel room in a bag left behind with his gun and a wooden box of weed.
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | David Crosby seized in drug bust
Dressed in black jeans and a tee-shirt, he appeared in court to hear illegal
possession charges relating to a gun, a hunting knife, ammunition and about
one ounce of marijuana, found in a wooden box.

An air tight jar. I stick my weed with my freshly ground coffee beans which is in an air tight container. Works well and is a good stash place (my wife doesn't drink coffee).

Before you say get a life, get the facts right. He is hiding his herb from his wife, it would seem, not growing it. Why are you hiding it? Will she smoke it all up?

no, in the growing section he said he wants to grow with a simple set up hinting that it's discrete. i mean, he does have a family. i assumed he was just hiding that from his kids, but then when i figured out his wife cared, that's when growing goes too far. kids are ignorant, his wife,(if i had to guess) is not..

but at the same time the coffee idea is a funny/awesome/really good idea, so maybe he could pull it off after all?
