Experienced Smokers Wanted! HELP!
Okay so, a friend of mine is a great dealer. He has always has good stuff and he always has a lot of it. When he asks me what I want, I just say "Whatever is good." This works, I usually get amazing stuff and I'm happy.
But I'm tired of just saying "whatever's good." I want to actually know what "bubblegum kush" means when he says he has it. Like, a while back he had this shit called white widow and he smoked me one bowl and I was flying. I had no idea what it was or why it was white. Essentially I'm just asking for you guys to tell me what each kind of weed actually does and why how its different from the others. Tell me your experiences with various kinds, were they more energetic highs or chill highs. I'd like to experience this all for myself but I'm not made of money so I'd like to learn from your experiences so I know what to try next time. Make sure to include the name of it, the kind of high it was, and maybe some colours just to help me out a bit. You're all doing me a huge favour here. |

two main groups of herb, well three, but ruderalis is rare.
indica - body stone - munchies - sleepy - somatic - SLEEPY ![]() - good for pain relief Sativa - cerebral - mood lift - creativity - stimulation rather than sedation - good for day smoking because the body high is minimal someone name some strains from each

Names, generally don't mean anything.
Unless his gardener specifically bought the seeds from a seed company or got a clone from someone who did, chances are very high that it's just a made-up name that got tacked onto the product somewhere in the growing/distribution process. Never buy weed based on the name, ever. See if it smells good, looks good and ask to sample it first. Always. And take the sample for yourself, don't let them choose it for you, cause some dealers are shady and keep good shit around for samples and then sell you mediocre shit.

see this is good advice, but where i come from the names of the strains are legit. to the point where i know the kush smell vs the snocap smell vs sour d vs haze. now that doesnt mean each crop is going to produce the exact same effect.
if your guy keeps coming up with random names maybe you should be suspicious of him, but if the white widow had you soaring it may have been the real deal because real WW is damn strong

To clarify right off the bat, my dealer is one of my best friends. We smoke together and we chill together and we go to school together and we're tight, so I doubt he's trying to screw me by putting a name on it. Thanks for the concern but I'd trust this guy with more than just my weed.
MOVING ON Alright, so I've taken all of your information into consideration and I thank you all for the help. But with all of these answers come new questions so here it goes. So by the explanation from the first poster I am defiantly more of a Sativa guy. I love drawing, playing music and giggling my ass off when I get high. I like being energetic and going out and doing stuff. Somebody told me (not my friend) that the word "kush" is more often associated with Indica, is this true? Or is he just making this stuff up? How do I tell the difference between an Indica strain and a Satvia strain? Are there differences in look, texture, feel or smell? Or is there no way of telling the difference? A quick response would be much appreciated because I'm picking up 1/8 tonight and then a quarter next week if I dig it. |

yah kush is indica.
ok, its not a fool proof way of telling, but GENERALLY indica nugs are more rock-like ie more dense, while pure sativas tend to be fluffier and more....um..kinda leafy but i dont mean leaves. just kinda thinner flowers. i always think haze smells kinda lemony while kush smells like chemicals mixed with some spices or something. its useless to try and describe lol ![]() the prob with these methods is that strains are common with indica and sativa genetics. ask ur friend for a sativa dominant strain if you like that high

Not saying your boy's tryin to screw you over. He's probably just telling you what his dealer told him. So regardless, a name means nothing.
This dude's probably not gonna sell you bunk, but in the off chance he's not available and you wanna get lit, it's good to know you can't trust everyone. Quote:

You guys have been a huge help, thanks a lot. I'm picking up tonight and I'll use the info you've given me to hopefully get some better stuff.
I'll keep coming back to this thread with anymore questions I may have. Happy smoking guys, and thanks again. |

its really hard to tell if the weed is indica or sativa just by looking at it. there are some signs, like Mafoo mentioned, but its still difficult. the only sure fire way to tell is by consumption.
since your tight with your dealer, ask to smoke a bowl, or take a bong rip of the stuff you intend on purchasing. also, go on some websites that sell marijuana seeds. each strain has a description of the smell, texture, and says if its indica or sativa. just keep browsing sites and familiarize yourself with the buds |

Don't worry about names! Experienced smokers will tell you that names are great for identifying, but if you're not growing the only thing that matters is that it gets you blazed. Just like you, my dealer is one of my best friends and I never ask for the name. Sometimes they'll tell me, but I'm not concerned about it. If you like the high, keep buying it. If you don't, then just wait until the next batch comes through. And think of it this way, every time it's a surprise, you never know just what kind of high you're going to get.

Clearly he's the kind of guy who's into his weed (or likes to think he is) so just ask him!
Some people LOVE talking about the various strains and what-not. Listening in should give you alot of new and potentially useful information. |

When some one fairly new to smoking weed(look at the title of the thread) is asking their dealer about the weed, then if they ask for a name they could get a clue that the person doesn't really know what they're talking about/doing. So then the buyer will get ripped off because the dealer knows they're inexperienced. Whether that means they get shorted this time or else they get convinced into buying something with a name for a higher price. anyone who's going to have strain names available either knows the grower or is the grower. after weed gets through 3 people, the name gets jumbled around and forgotten. ever played the game telephone in school when you were a kid? well try doing that with stoners and add a co're passed on through people.uple hours or days in between passing on the name. trust me, names will get fudged up unless it's written on the bag or something. |
