Downstem touching the base of a bong?

I just bought a tiny new delta 9 bong from a local headshop. My question is, the downstem touches the base of the bong. Is this a problem? does it effect how it hits some how or do anything?

Thanks in advance for any replies

delta 9s are pretty well made, the only problem I could imagine is vibrations from the bubbles causing the male piece to shatter, but as far as I know all delta 9s are laminated. maybe wrap some rubber bands around the base of the stem to cushion it.

It'll be fine as long as enough air can get through.
