instant gratification

Modern technology has granted us with the ability to get whatever we want.. Now!.... movies, music, anything. We all can go and download whatever we want... I think this devalues entertainment media to the nth degree. what are everyone else thoughts on the matter. I love having an album be it a CD or Vinyl, I love have the liner notes, cover art everything...

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

my thoughts on the matter meant more in 1996-2003...Now i just want to listen to good tunes, and not be bothered with the fap material...It's like when you first find out about porno mags and you actually read em when your not fapping, then you get some and the fap mags are just for desperate times or when the winch is on the rag, we adults call that business time...

i agree it definitely can, but its all about your perspective. if your more worried about downloading as much shit as you can than you are actually enjoying that shit, i can see alot of frustration occurring. i used to be like that, downloading every little piece of media that caught my eye, games music movies, and only getting around to enjoy a small percentage of it. now i take my time with shit whether its media ive actually bought or media ive downloaded, and its just as fulfilling to me nowadays as it was when i was a little kid busting out my SNES or my walkman.

I find this topic extremely interesting actually, i think theres a huge shift in media going on and how people relate to and enjoy media.

i know but when giving my interpretation of instant gratification...

it makes me really tense, like I can't get it into me fast enough and then a release of....something...a release of all of my troubles....but it comes out as if someone with a painted on black beard and filled my soul with oxy clean.

i think there's merit in delaying good things just for the extra thrill when you get to experience them, but weed is totally my instant gratification. i just love the act of toking.

its just dopamine

you can get the same release of dopamine from non-alcohol related activities you know, its all about finding gratification in the things you do

exercise does it the easiest

I feel that artists are only concerned with make singles... the idea of a full album is gone. I love listening to a full album for the better or worse. I don't really play video games anymore, but it seems games are all about the internet play now; there's not story to half of the games now. This has all been part of my recent I wish it was 94', forever. The internet has destroyed my attention spanned. We can't even watch a 30 minute sitcom. We need 30 second internet clips to entertain us.

^word i definitely feel that the album has been cheapened by digital media

it started way back when though, when major labels decided it was a good idea to have artists put only a few good songs on each album and make the rest filler. i think that started in the 80's mainly.

there are still some major label bands that have faith in the album though. mgmt just put out an album's album. band of horses is good. most of the good album stuff nowadays is indie though

I like instant gratification, myself. I can't wait until technology allows me to have Natalie Portman's mouth handy whenever I need it.
