so i like to creative and see what new stuff i can make to smoke weed..especially since i dont have the money or id to buy a real bong. but i recently made one with a mountain dew two liter with a bic pen nd a socket for a slide. it works pretty. share some suggestions or things you've used?

I've used milk jugs for gravity bongs. I've used bamboo for makeshift steamrollers. Apples are a classic as far as pipes go, as with any firm fruit or veggie. Made a pretty sweet bong out of a glass Sprite bottle once, but I had access to a glassblowing shop then, so its not really something one could do on the cheap. Still, it was a bad ass piece. Sadly, I traded it for a gram of coke last year...

Whats a coke high like... Hmm. For me, first thing that happens is I get exited cuz I have coke. Then, I cut out some lines (railes really, something like .5 g) and cut a straw down real short. This is all part of the experience btw. Then, I snort the coke. About 2 seconds later, my heart beat goes up. Then I get reeeealy happy. I feel like the whole world just...changes into this bright, joyful place. I get super talkative and I feel hyper-focused on everything, like my eyes are wide open. I cant stop tapping my feet and I'm full of energy. In the words of my friend Drew the first time he did coke, "Dude, that was better than weed, better than alcohol, better than sex! I've never felt so good!"

Therein lies the problem. That awesome rush lasts for no time at all. I gotta do another line after a half hour. Then, another line, and another. Then, when I'm out of coke, the "up" feeling ends. Its like being on the top of the world, then being dropped inna deep dark hole all of a sudden. All the light in the world is gone. I start grinding my teeth, get all figety, can't sleep, start craving for coke hard enough to steal money from close friends, to sell my shit for coke money. All I can think about for the next few days is getting more coke. I get all depressed and angry. Its a fun drug, but nothing justifies the horror of the comedown. Don't do coke, please. I wish I never started it. I've been clean almost a year (on coke) and I would still do a line at the slightest hint of an opportunity, regardless of how crappy I know I will feel. Hope that answers your questions.

From experience, smaller bottles work best..... Last one I made was a portable hooka.... Took a small gaterade bottle (for firmness) and long skinny clear aquarium hoses...... and you can never go wrong with deep welled sockets!!

Shit, if you can't afford a $20 acrylic bong, you need to get a better job.

look up gravity bong or waterfall bong. they're awesome and almost exclusively homemade.

made a gravity bong out of a cooler, 5 gallon bucket, some valves, some hosing, and a big brass converter piece. it could burn through almost a gram on one lift, then you turned all the valves and on the push down it had two hoses so multiple people could hit it. by the time it was all the way down several people would be stoned.

for a $20 acrylic you might as well just go homemade and wait till you can afford a nice glass one. seriously, a home made waterfall is about 1/20th the price with 2 times the smoking pleasure.

I remember having a pyrex like lab quality thin walled tube about 12 to 13 inches long with a nice bowl about 1/4 of the way in from one end (lol yea, on the side of the tube ...not on the end ) was big enough for a thumb sized nugget chunk of hask or a small rock

we called those bongs in the 70's


I think steamroller ( because it fries you/my lungs) is more appropriate.

Being the "mechanic" that I am , I've created an aluminum one almost identical to that old one.

but with a stainless bowl...micro drilled dime is the screen/grate system.

get an old pop can (they're everywhere + there's a bonus when someone smokes you out, by cleaning the can)

take aluminum pop can .
take out yous shit.
that's a knife dumbass
put a dent in the side of the can near the bottom.
make that dent look like home for a costly peice of something tasty.
open the knife and hold the blade by the sides near the tip very near the tip with the handle well palmed.
hold the can in your other hand.
hold the can in some one elses hand if you're real nervouss sS Ss s ss.
carefully punch tiny holes in the very very very bottom of this wonderful dent you just fashioned .

be careful not to punch one hole into another ...make a dozen pin sized holes using the knife point holding fingers as a depth stop guage of sorts.

this aluminum is quite thicker than are the sides.
focus on the center .
you are getting sleepy.
place the tip of your knife in that center you're focused on, and apply preasure, slowly rocking the knife so as to create a small cut maybe a quarter inch long.
make another cut same size same place cutting perpendicularly across the previous cut
((make a freaking X))
dent the x in.
it is the carb.
piss on the top , that's where you hit it.



stop.

you're done.

hit return.

Except can pipes suck balls for hits an I'd rather my glass spoon any day... But we've all had to improvise in a similar fashion, say on a camping trip, or during band camp, or in a foreign country, etc. (all occasions where this toker had to make due) Personally for true on the spot improv smoking I prefer either rolling a j with various paper or a fruit pipe. Grav bongs are cool too, but they're only easy if you have a bowl piece handy. A makeshift bowl and stem are iffy.

i remember when i bought a dremel i spent that entire day finding pieces of wood in my back yard and turning them into makeshift pipes.

also camping out with a couple friends...we found a bunch of clay when we were swimming in the river, fashioned some pipes, wrapped em in tin foil and threw them in the hot coals of our camp fire. they actually worked, although they were so brittle that they didn't last long.

oh and i used to make chilums out of aluminum (cut up soda can), smoke out of them once on my way to school, and throw them out when i got there so i'd have nothing on me. this ended of course when i learned to roll a joint (although at the time i still mostly repacked cigarettes for the stealth factor).

oooh and the lightbulb vape, i remember when the parents found THAT in my drawer

and the multi chambered bong made outta mason jars...



making my own pipes was like a rite of passage for me growing up, even after i had my own pieces. its a fun utilitarian way to be creative


eta: ph ya and remember birds (chickens, turkeys, whatever) have hollow bones, great for chillums/downstems/whatever. also reeds, like you find by a pond, a lot of those are long hollow and airtight, great for smoking out of.

yea when i signed up for yahooka i was very paranoid, and falsified all my info, says i was born in march 1980 or something I once tried to get a mod to change it to my real birthday but i was underage and told to fuck off now i like it this way, the real yahookans catch on to this sort of thign anyway.

oh and to keep it on topic: if you want a semipermanent bong/hookah arizona jugs are great. They have a handle for transport, but are also much sturdier than a milk jug. for a downstem you can use aquarium hosing of the size that the mouth end of a metal bowl (where it kind of bulges out) fits into. to hit it add more aquarium hosing.


now i'm gonna fuck off...have to read book one of On Free Choice of the Will for early class tomorrow. I need to sleep and not skip class on the second day ><
