Cant get my screen to stay in my bowl! Help!
Hey everyone,
For a while i've been having a real bitch of a time getting my screen to stay in my bowl. I've smoked plenty of weed in the bowl to the point where its pretty resinated, and the screen still pops right out when it heats up. Its a real buzz kill when your weed falls all over the floor, as im sure some of you know. Anyone have any handy tips in keeping this damn screen in? Its a glass bowl and metal (not sure which kind) screen. |

I have a stainless steel screen in my pipe RIGHT NOW. I usually get em pretty small sized since I'm not trying to cover the bowl, just the tiny hole in the bottom. To get it to fit better, regardless of size, adjust the shape of the screen to just a little smaller that the bowl size. Then, just mash down on it to widen it to fit. Not too hard. After you smoke a couple three bowls out of the screen, the mesh gets sticky and will bond with the resin on the sides of the bowl. Personally though, I'd invest in a glass screen. They're small, cleanable, decorative to a degree, and never just pop out of the bowl. And they're pretty cheap, no more than $1 per screen.

I think the problem was the screen was too big for my bowl, I cut it down to just cover the hole and it seems to be working fine now. As far as the glass screens, i've heard mixed reviews about them. Some of my friends who tried them said they hated em because they were a bitch to get out and clogged up pretty often.
Appreciate the help folks. |

You don't put metal screens in glass bowls.
That's why they make glass screens. What you need to do is stop breaking up the bud so much and hit the pipe easier and clean the pipe a lot more often. Resin buildup is nasty, you're just holding ash on the side of the bowl and fucking up he taste of the next bowl. Kids today. ![]()

*Hits bowl with glass screen, feels real nice*
I use my metal screens on my metal pinch hitter. Just to clarify. I had heard alot of people say glass screens get clogged easy, but from what Ive seen thats not really the case. I also dont leave the thing sitting in the bowl all the time, I take it out when Im not toking. One on the party bowl, an a tiny one for the Chameleon pipe.

If I have problems with bud falling through the hole I'll just throw a little bit of stem in the bottom of the bowl. I'll only do this if I'm smoking really fine keify/find ground stuff where I would lose a lot otherwise.
This usually only happens in my bong. I try to avoid it in the hand-bowl because of bad taste and they light on fire. I've considered the glass screens but I don't know how I would keep track of it.

Your glass screens pop out? How the fuck they do that? I mean, they DO get stuck sometimes, but they never just jump outta there mid bowl-load like the metal ones can.

Don't blow in the end of the pipe.

I wouldn't just make up something as important as a catastrophic screen failure. Pooped out was the wrong term. It just seems to me they're not very secure. And plug really easily.
To each their own, I spose. I use a brass screen in my Stewie pipe. |

Man just lose the screen and smoke that shit. Fuck me if I ever couldn't figure out how to get high when there's weed in front of me.
