Vapo-rez lighting on fire?

Hey guys, I got a Herbalaire 2.1 from my lovely girlfriend for my birthday. It's absolutely gorgeous.
The rez from this thing looks wonderful. It basically looks like honey oil but when I scrape it to try to smoke said rez out of a pipe it basically lights on fire, pours black smoke that smells like plastic and bubbles until it turns to ash.
Anyone know what's going on? I'm unemployed and need as much efficiency out of my stash as possible.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Well, I could offer advice on gently "vaping" your bowl with the lighter flame (as one would do with a sliver of hash or dusting of crystals sitting atop a fresh green nugget).

However - billowing columns of plastic scented black smoke sounds disconcerting as hell.
