hey folks, im currently putting together a "Bug out kit" for when the shit hits the fan and am also starting to burry supplies in locations i have hunted in since i was a child....now, i want to know if anyone has any info on the long term storage of seeds. seeds in paticular are MMJ seeds from colorado. the dispensary goofed with a seeded harvest and i picked up an ounce each of Sour D, Chocolope, Super silver haze and Bubblicious for like 90 bucks each. i have roughly about 20 seeds per strain and want to put these in with my burried supplies so just in case the shit hits the fan and im forced to live off the land and such i would be sure to have some dang pot! the length i am looking for is about 5-7 years, practicly the same shelf life as my MRE's. after which time i dig everything up and rotate accordingly.



now keep in mind I AM NOT A NUT, i just like being prepared. i have been doing this for well over a decade now, with the exception of the MMJ seeds. Disasters can happen in a split second. wether that be full o nuclear war, a solar flare, yellowstone eruption...etc you just never know. you could wake up in the middle of the night and find that something serious had happened and before you know it, your in the movie "the Road".


edit: more info-i burry everything in sealed food grade barrels and everything inside is triple vacuum sealed. including the MRE's. (no need really for sealing the MRE's but i do it anyways).

uh huh. was there a question in there somewhere, or did you just want to reasure us that youre not a nut?
anyway, as long as the seeds stay dry and cool and avoid being crushed, they can easily last 7 years.

Pretty much what Veda said. Keep em safe and stored, they'll be fine. Though I know a good many folks who would worship the ground you piss on if you could be kind enough to throw some Opium Poppy seeds it the kit. Papiver Somniferum. Oh, and some datura pods couldn't hurt. I figure coca seeds may be a bit much to ask, I'll find some and put them in a safe place for ya just in case, ya know?

i like the sound of those poppies.

medicine will be in high demand in the (theoretical post-apocalypse) future. once all the pain pills run out it'll be nice to have some home grown medicine.

When I bury seeds for future supplies, I call it planting.

Shrink wrapped (vaccum packed), possibly irradiated herb buds/oil/hash should keep forever.

as for seeds...depends in your future outlook in distance and path.
In a nuclear winter you won't be growing much besides food that doesn't make you glow in the dark.

After an earthquake in say Hong Kong, perhaps the world markets will crash, following the current collapsing trend. How will you finance your needs ?

A Tsunami near Tokyo wipes out your main 1000 acre poppy harvest...and you lost your house , your boat, and favorite hooker in the same motion of the ocean...now what you gonna do when Mean Face uncle Guido comes knocking at your back door for tons of product or a thumb or knee ?
