So just how bad is smoking out of tinfoil? what are the long term affects?

The general rule of thumb is that it isn't going to kill you if you have to use it in a pinch, just don't make a habit out of it...

nice diagram waves. although in a pinch apples can be even easier. just shove thin screwdriver or shishkabob or something down the top, and through the side. the top of the apple is pretty fireproof and already makes a good sloped bowl, no need for foil. you can just put you mouth to the hole on the side, no need for an empty pen tube.

Honestly, it's probably not the best for you. I've done many a times when my glass bowls where broken or n/a.

Just make sure to get the stuff that dosn't have that weird coating on it.

There's suppose to be a side you use (there's glossy and matte), but which one it is eludes me.

Either way, I bet you'll be fine. If you do it often enough you should seriously consider a glass/clay bowl though.

So basicly no one in this thread is helping you. Nice.

naw, i actually thought it was a pretty cool diagram, it explains some of my old favorites a lot better than i could with words.

and my only qualm with waves posting reddit stuff is that after people kept calling him out on it all the time, i started visiting reddit. now im fucking hooked and end up browsing reddit all night

i agree any fruit or melon ect does not need foil to smoke out of it, i perfer not using foil but if you dont have anything else.... foil pipes are easy and simple.... like they said dont make it a habbit, i also for quick fix..... use a 1 liter to make a quick water bong, hits good and simple just little more time added to it.

Used to do gravity bongs (we called them bottles) a lot back when I first started smoking- urgh tinfoil and plastic.

Use glass or make joints imo.

Aluminium causes alzheimers, I don't think you'll become senile from a few bong hits but repeated use is not recommended.

Thanks guys all I needed to know. I used to smoke mad foil back in the day and I feel the alzheimers so to speak lol.. I have impaired thoughts and sometimes even speech. it's often hard to place a complex sentence together using big words. I also feel like I have constant brainfarts(feels like my brain is yawning). I now have numerous glass pipes but I wish I would've never started to use tinfoil. hopefully My brain gets better =\.

I hate to say it man, but this one is a MYTH! For one, the heat of a normal lighter won't be able to vaporize the foil so inhalation is unlikely. Secondly, google "Aluminum foil causes altzheimers" and find something reputable. (Hint: I had this argument before, where I thought the same as you. I looked into it, was forced to admit I was wrong lol)
