About to get Oregon MMP card, and seek driving lessons

Hi. This is my first post here on yahooka, and I want to introduce myself. I'm about to get my Oregon Medical Marijuana Card based on my being on treatment with interferon for hep C. Six weeks into that, and the side effects are obvious and not fun. The bud should be showing up very soon, and, being previously a hippie (long ago) I have very antiquated knowledge of what goes on in today's weed world. Also, have a history, from back then, of "just getting loaded"––and I want to address those habits right away and not queer myself from being able to use medical marijuana to my own benefit. At 68 years old now, I see the wisdom, finally, of using control.

I'm open to contact through the forum, and am particularly interested in this issue of control: how to use and enjoy bud and keep myself as finely-tuned as possible, and able to live my life in an appropriate manner. I'm fearful of reverting to type and proceeding to get myself wasted, then hungover, then alienated from further use of something that has special and unique allure for me, and which promises significant benefits if used wisely. Afraid of being unwise, I guess you could say.

The way it goes here in Oregon, when you get your OMMP card you also get a connection to a grower, and that grower supplies you with something like an ounce of high-quality bud per month––I'm not sure about the exact amount because that amount seems so huge to me that I just know I'm going to be well-stocked.

I'm reading-around on the Web and am figuring out that an herb grinder and a vaporizer seem like the way to go from baggie to buzz. On these matters, too, I am open to comment and mentorship.

If you wanna know how it is to take interferon-and-ribavirin, I could tell you what's happening with that for me. Ask me.

Hi estornino and welcome to YaHooka, it's always great to see new members like yourself with MM cards join the forum.

Hopefully the thread listings past and present can be of value for your learning, if not, make a thread concerning your question and we'll be open to discuss it.

Make sure you inquire, if you have not already, about the best buds to suit your condition since every bud strain will very somewhat in effects.

An ounce used to seem like a half year supply back when i started, now i can easily burn a few grams of weed a day if i want. I think the doctor can recommend certain amounts to different patients depending on tolerance level.. could be wrong tho.

Go with the SSV for a vape. made in america, and has rave reviews

Welcome, man. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I can't really give you any better advice than Rubix already did, but I look forward to reading your posts. You said you were a hippy back in the day, and we need all the "old school" around here that we can get.

The quest for knowledge carries me away sometimes––especiall y, actually, when it comes to buying something. I want to know what the good stuff is, and which differences between products are important, and which are not interesting to me. The field of getting the bud into the bod is, as you all know, really loaded with gizmos, … and, seems, loaded with goofballs and snake-oil salesmen too. Wow.

Specifically, that SSV vape looks very good, and that Willie Nelson chooses to use it carries some weight, knowing that he must certainly be connected in the weed world, and would not need to skimp on price of any vape he chose to use.

That said, the same company makes Da Buddha, and, damn, that looks good too. And the Da Buddha looks to me to have a more refined attachment method of the tube to the heater––their ground glass joint seems to be so much smoother to use than the add-on-looking way that SVV gets their tube to become hands-free.

Anybody got an opinion/observation on that issue? I've been oh, so grateful for having the resource of the Web in this education process, by the way. I remember when all a person could do was go to the local store and see what they had. Mucha betta to have all the blab and expo, even though if you want to use it you have to wade through it and be able to make some sense of all those options.

So, isn't that what this kind of forum is for, at least in part?

The issue of choosing a bud grinder is less weighty, but still: anybody got a rave fave?

Welcome....

You're getting some great advice here.

The only thing I can add is that it's ok to enjoy it too.

in terms of grinder definitely sharpstone or chromium crusher off ebay. I really like the 4pc with kif catcher. Depending on if its large or small it'll probably be like $20-$30

Thanks, you guys. Actually, I have done just about all the homework I can eat for right now, and placed an order yesterday: Vapor Genie aluminum bat, Kannistor 4-piece grinder (from the VG site), and a couple of doo-dads to go with. I love the relief of walking away from the crash course already! Oy.

Just an aside: My wife is definitely cold-shouldering this whole involvement, and it's seeming best that I just don't bring it all up for discussion here in the house––not the best, but I'm figuring that it's something that I need to live with. A bit lonely, but she loves me and we have lots of pleasant interactions.
