Cool to ask?

High everyone, noticed not a lot of people ask not questions especially noobs so I thought i'd do it then. Grow room size= 63cm *4 w and 95cm in length.

2 bag seed plants in veg (in case I produce a male if it was only 1)
CFLs = 2 40w with 6400k and 4800 lumens combined
1 20w with 6500k unknown lumens
1 28w with 6400k & 1680 lumens
1 20w cool white with 1155 lumens
1 24w warm white with 1300 lumens
1 14w cool white (Just because I can )
how much more light is needed there if not enough? Advise and criticism (constructive of course) is welcome

a 150w bulb at 4 inches distance produces a meagre 46,000 lumens. Your tiny little bulbs will push useful light only a few inches before it tapers off quickly. Once your plants reach approx. 8 inches there will be no light penetration to the lower parts. cool white floros and led's can be placed in the plants leaves but to actually grow and bloom you will need more output of lumens as your plant gains height. its like replacing your car headlights with candles.it produces light but nothing useful.

Thanks for taking your time to respond while others just viewed. :-)
Yeah they don't sell big watters like that here in S.Afrika unfortunately. If they do it's the big ass ones that need a ballast and I want that not. So you mean with all these lumens combined they won't do nada? I've realised your point with height and penetration as they grow. Any ideas?

Why no ballast? If you want to get serious, you'd probably be best with at least a 400watt HID which would require a ballast. Also, don't use cheap shit..

It will do something justblayze. I grew two plants with like 200-300 watts of CFL in flower. Two big 100 watt cfls and a few smaller cfls if i remember correctly.
In veg i think i just had a bunch of smaller cfls. Dont remember how many.

Ended up with about an OZ i believe all together.

The trick is just to get the bulbs as close as possible, and have a set up that allows you to adjust the bulbs constantly for that reason. It is a pain in the ass tbh, but you can make it work.

If it is all you can do, just go for it and it can be a practice run of sorts. You are defintiely much much better off with more/better lighting, but if it is all you can do, its all you can do.
You can always start the plants off with that amount of CFLs, as it is plenty for early on, and save up some cash and invest in more lights for later on and in flowering. Dunno what you situation is, but maybe you can get some sunlight on them too occationally to help out, etc etc.

Man trust me I know about HIDs and their superiority and all that jazz. There's a good reason why I'm not getting them a reason I have no time to share but yeah I expected someone eventually will bring this HID thing up lol. CFLs do grow with success man just obviously not compared to HIDs of course. Thanks for your answers though

Fenderbender thanks a lot that's relief to know they'll do something. I know about more lighting I should get that's a step in progress yes. I just wish we had places like Walmart here where I can just walk in and but those big watt lights but no is is Afrika I gotta compromise and hopefully i will buy something online to be shipped here. Will get more light to go with what I got now. How many more watts do you think I should get more?

Oh I forgot I did think of putting them outside in the sun but ey the creepy crawlies I will bring in, trust me I know I've done it before. Spider mites were a problem I don't have them now since growing inside just those nasty fungus gnats I'm dealing with now but occasionally yeah its an idea. Plants look healthy with minor heat probs (plan is getting PC fans today hopefully) I am using a desk fan atm. Money situation is a bit rough ATM but I'm going a step I can take each time. Sorry for the typo in previous post. "walk in and buy no this is Afrika" what I meant

cool floro's will do the trick if you keep them right in the plant so that no leaf is more than 8 inches away.
There is a technique where you slowly bend the plant stem over and tie it down an inch or two above the ground. the plant will grow along the ground and the branches will grow upwards. Every few days tie the top down so it continues to grow sideways. This will give you unlimited growth potential without height and lumen penetration restrictions. prune off small spindly branches occasionally and just keep main healthy branches to grow and bloom with.
Kinda like this...__Y__Y__Y__Y_ _Y>>
There is a name for this technique but I'm having a brain freeze/fart moment right now. Hopefully someone else remembers it.

I wasn't trying to be condescending. I'm just speaking from experience. I did the CFL's also and they're fine for veg but I didn't get any real bud until I used HID's. You can get small HID's that have a built in ballast if you can order something online. I started with a little 100W system and it kicked ass on the CFL's.

knowing the difficulty of getting things bought online shipped to me, i am quite skeptical that such a thing could be ordered and shipped to south africa

Slunt I did think of doing LST but the plants are only a month old and not that tall to start low stress training them. Captain Cannabis is right I did try getting N HID online and it said they can't ship it but we do have them in the country just haven't bumped into one that is self-ballasted except for flood lights. Ballasts are a bit pricey for me but I can afford HIDs (small watt). Trying this as a run for experience in growing before I buy seeds I have to make all the mistakes I can in order to learn right? Think in of trying with 150w hps but we'll see
