Awesome movie! Breathtaking visuals! Great Music!

I especially liked the guys in Singapore doing the Balinese monkey dance.

About the only thing I didn't like about the movie are the scenes where they have the people simply staring at the camera.

The music is enough reason to "see" the movie. The soundtrack is a compilation of work by a dozen or so different artists. I got the soundtrack, then I started getting complete CD's of the various artists such as...

Dead Can Dance
David Hykes Harmonic Choir (great for meditation)
Inkuyo

Here is more info...

A sequel to Baraka, Samsara, is currently in production and expected to be released in 2008.

Baraka (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The director has proposed an outline for the two-hour film:[2]

1. Prologue: Creation.
Moving from a view which encompasses an atom, the views will expand in scale, until a sand painting is shown. Using the painting as a kind of portal, the viewer will be introduced to four ancestor spirit guides.
2. Act 1: Spirit taking form.
This section will focus on an amorphous spirit, seeking expression. At the end of the segment, that spirit will come into form as a newborn baby.
3. Act 2: Matter, one turn of the wheel.
This section expands on the single birth of Act I, and explores the global cycle of birth to death, represented by the ancestor spirits of the prologue.
4. Act 3: Samsara, the wheel of life.
The focus of this section is the journey of the spirit after death, and the impermanence of the material world. Abandon, decay, and death will be the primary themes.
5. Epilogue: Rebirth.
The view will go back through the sand painting of the prologue, which will be reassembled, and the portal will be sealed.

Samsara (2007 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chronos (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Another great movie in the same vein...

If you got anything out of Baraka watch the Qatsi trilogy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia right now...

Baraka on blu-ray came out Oct 30th.

Picked it up, and it blows away the original with a couple interesting extras too.

The Baraka sequel called Samsara will be out soon. I'm planning a Yahooka field trip for all the Chicago area Yahookans when it comes out.

Info can be found here... http://www.spiritofbaraka.com/samsara.aspx

Definite must have in any blu-ray collection, but it also raises my expectations for Samsara.

I just downloaded the full bluray and am excited to watch it. This is the first bluray movie(non concert) to feature 96/24 audio i believe, so i am pumped to rock this out on my new home theatre system. I will probably watch this on my next psychedelic voyage.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

3 year delay... understandable with a movie of this nature.

Still...
