^^ I've seen that pic already but man, wish I was there when it was smoked.
No offense to the movie (and I havent seen it yet), but Cheech and Chong will always be the best weed movie. That or Monty Python.

A motion picture film or "movie" where the cannabis plant commonly reffered to as "weed" plays a central role in the story like such movies as Dazed and Confused, Half Baked, and others ...
![]() And slunt I'm just saying that in my opinion this is going to be the best from what I've seen in the trailers and the clip and based on the fact I love Seth Rogen and the movies he's been in.. watch the trailer if you haven't it looks like a really well made movie.. it's not one of those typical stoner movies like Grandma's Boy which uses lame marijuana jokes that aren't even that accurate (like a strain of weed that makes you think your a deer..) - Reefer Madness

You honestly cannot say this is the best stoner movie based off the commercial.
That said, it'll probably be up there. Cause Seth Rogan's comedies are awesome. James Franco's fake coughing was gay though.

i watched that trailer pretty stoned and it kills it knowing they're just actors. i mean the 1st guy doesnt even really rip it and then proceeds to cough his lungs out in a very fake manner.
seth on the other hand does a great job, you can tell he's a smoker because he had to make himself cough on that hit. eh i bet it'll be worth seeing for sure, but i'd much rather see a new(quality) cheech and chong, that would be fucking epic. EDIT: thank you, i was hoping i wasnt the only one who noticed this. you can like see his thought process as he's making it up when he like did that little punch thing. disappointing |

what about movies like grandma's boy? is that considered a "weed movie"? i would say that weed plays a large role in the movie but it's not really essential for the story

I don't think a weed movie even has to have weed in it's plot to be honest. A good weed movie has to:
A.) Obviously be funny (and even more so when baked) B.) Possibly have people smoking C.) DONT OVERDO IT D.) Make those little underlying jokes that alot of people dont catch.

Not to take away from Cheech and Chong, but if the genre of stoner comedy had not progressed and adjusted to the current culture, it would have died. In my opinion, the two best stoner comedies since Cheech and Chong have been Half Baked and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. What they all have in common with Cheech and Chong is they feature hapless characters (in the mould of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, The Marx Brothers, and Laurel & Hardy) who, in spite of their mental handicap or pot smoking, beat the system and come out on top.
What is different about them is that their characters are more integrated into society than the drop-outs Cheech and Chong were. In Half Baked Dave Chappelle’s character, as well as his side kicks were all gainfully employed as were Harold, as a corporate office worker, and Kumar, as a professional student. In addition to being functional members of society, the characters in the recent stoner movies have intellectual capabilities far beyond what Cheech and Chong ever displayed. People laugh at movies because they can identify with the characters and situations. Since about half the people in the US have tried marijuana during their lifetime, it’s a good bet that many of the people that go to see stoner movies have smoked themselves, and to a degree want to see themselves in the characters. Needless to say it would be difficult for a person who has successfully run their life while simultaneously smoking marijuana to identify with a disconnected stoner.

I know it's not a movie, but the show Freaks and Geeks has probably the most honest approach to smoking herb than anything else i have seen on film or television... Especially the episode where Lindsey(the main character) smokes for the first time...

Seth Rogen: "I love Half Baked and I loved Dazed and Confused. It’s interesting with weed movies; a lot of them function well as weed movies and that’s it. If you remove the weed it would not be much of a movie, generally speaking. If you showed it to someone who didn’t smoke a lot of weed, they probably wouldn’t like it at all. That’s kind of where we had to be cautious here; obviously this movie is made for people who love weed but not everyone does, so we kind of wanted it to function as an actual movie beyond that. But for my money, you know, Half Baked is amazing. But my mom might not like it. I think she’ll like this movie though."
