Street Fighter IV?

anyone cop this game yet? looks awesome. i remember playing super street fighter II back in the day on the super Nintendo and that shit is still one of the best games ever. looks like it got some really good reviews too, I might just have to pick a copy up today. Hopefully someone in town sells those sega saturn looking controllers released for this game. I read somewhere that they are sold out everywhere, same with the arcade sticks. those street fighter edition fight sticks are selling online for like 500$!! wtf

I like what they did with the graphics, it kinda looks like they made it part 2-D, and part 3-D. looks amazing nonetheless

I am a longterm street fighter fan, but i found the game to be sorta "meh". This is the first street fighter game i have played since the SNES games(with the exception of marvel vs capcom series on DC, which was awesome). It had pretty cool graphics and the look to it was alright(although the preview videos released online a long time ago made it look way sweeter). The controls are pretty much the exact same as the super nintendo with the addition of the trigger button attacks.

Don't get me wrong it was fun to play some prettier looking street fighter, but they really haven't added anything to the game as far as i can tell(only played versus). Its basically the same as the oldschool streetfighter, which is a classic in my mind, with just amped up graphics and new special attacks. Personally i would rather play any of the original SNES titles if i was interested in more of this type of fighting game.

My brother just rented it, it was fun to play for a night, but i don't see either of us buying it anytime soon. Every now and then we do bust out the old snes or our modded wii for playing the snes versions, which in my opinion are still king of the street fighter series.

I played it, and all I can say is that it ain't you daddy's street fighter game. it is fucking hard, and I consider myself pretty good at such games.

it was harder than third strike, which noone has ever played.

I'm holding out for Tekken 6.

Tekken 5 was the best fighter game I've ever played.

just got the game and have to say, it's a really fun game. if you like fighting games get this game. before this, I haven't played a street fighter game in a long ass time, probably around 13 years old when I was playing it on the SNES. online, theres a lot of really good players, so far i've been losing around 60 percent. way too many people play as ryu, and you got some people that just stand there throwing fireballs the entire fucking game.. gets annoying. but ya, really fun game, go buy it

I don't know man, I gotta disagree with you when you say that it's the exact same as the oldschool street fighter, just with better graphics. I mean, the controls may be pretty much the same as the old ones, but it definitely has a wayy different "feel" to it, it feels like a whole new game, which is a good thing. To me, it's a big improvement compared to the older street fighter games, and it actually has gotten way better ratings than all the others. They added new characters, new moves, new levels, new game types, new boss, not to mention the awesome graphics and online play.

I didn't mean it was a bad game or anything, but it just didn't seem to hold my interest very long. I couldn't see myself getting alot of gameplay out of it, but thats just me personally. Perhaps i have just grown out of the fighting genre, truthfully its the first fighter game i have played since xbox/gamecube ones. And there has been very few fighting games i have enjoyed since SNES.

I guess the main thing that attracted me to it was the fact its a streetfighter game. I have no experience playing any other fighters on the new generation of consoles so i can't really compare it to those. Maybe it is one of the better modern fighters. I also never really tried the 1 player modes or online stuff so those could be worthwhile too.

Good to hear that you enjoy it though, I guess fighters are just not my type of game anymore, besides playing the old ones for nostalgic enjoyment.

did you ever try soul calibur?

you get the gameplay out of fighters by learning all the moves of your favourite characters so you're not just pressing random buttons. i remember way back, me and my buddies would keep like journals on the combos for all the mortal combats and stuffs [back in the snes, genesis, etc days].

soul calibur is really deep though, with all the different characters and weapons.

ya i remember soul calibur on the dreamcast was pretty sick, but i only played the demo for the new one though. And I know what you mean about button mashers, to have fun with a fighting game, you have to actually know what all the moves/combos are and block and all that.

Soul Calibur was pretty cool, I also liked powerstone, heavy metal, marvel vs capcom 2 for dreamcast. And the def jam fighting game for xbox was pretty fun. And all the oldschool classics for the super nintendo were awesome.

I know how to play fighting games, they just don't really interest me that much anymore.

Tekken 5 was the ultimate when it comes to depth in a 3d fighter.

I don't know this for sure. But you know I wanna say it is.

yeah soul calibur owns. im not a huge fan of 3d fighters but this game is awesome. every character has a totally different fighting style, tons of unique moves and visually the game looks great.

worth playing if youre losing faith in fighting games.

ANYWAYS SFIV.....havent played yet...waiting till i get my saturn controller rig (saturn controller with ps2 output, ps2 --> 360 adapter) cause the 360 controller ruins fighting games.
